A single rose that looks cast in glowing gold, with every petal edge catching the light.
Seen head-on, the petals curl inward toward a dark center and pull your eye in. Bright ridges run along the raised edges and fall away into deep rust, amber and dark brown. Behind the rose, square panels form a grid. Some are flecked with tiny bubble-like rings, and thin cracks show in the lower left.
It looks embossed in gold and copper metal, lit from within. Soft folds sweep out to the right, which gives the surface a slow, liquid feel.
Why live with it: the warmth. Molten gold, burnt orange and rust red give it heat and glow, and the bright ridges against the fine speckled panels keep it interesting up close and from across the room.
If this one speaks to you, the full piece is waiting on Fine Art America.
