We are getting ready for next season and we have been busy at ! Last week we helped host and attended the 2026 FPTA Statewide Auditions alongside FAU’s Dept. of Theatre & Dance! From our Owl New Play Festival to our Season Auditions to moving to our bigger space and FPTA’s we are gearing up for a brilliant season with some incredibly talented artist!

Mentorship is one of the most important parts of building the future of the arts.

At Theatre Lab, supporting the next generation of artists is a core part of who we are. Through programs like LabRATS, students are paired with working professionals who help guide them as they create, refine, and ultimately see their own original plays come to life in front of an audience.

In this video, award-winning playwright Jeff Bower discusses the process of mentoring students through the journey of writing, refining, and ultimately witnessing their short plays performed live as part of the Owl New Play Festival. Experiences like these help students gain confidence in their voices while providing real insight into the collaborative process behind new play development.

This is how the future of theatre is built: through guidance, collaboration, and community. Thank you to the Heckscher Foundation for Children for making this, and all of our educational outreach programs, possible!

Less than a week after our successful statewide audition, we’re thrilled to announce we’re coming back to Boca in 2027! Theatre Lab and Florida Atlantic University have agreed to host us again next spring!!

The selected date is both Lou’s birthday and the official anniversary of the founding of Theatre Lab, so it felt right for a celebration in his honor.
