Last Season, we concluded with TWO of Joanna Castle Miller Plays; CONVERSA and INFERNA! Audiences loved them so much, for our upcoming 2026-2027 Season, Theatre Lab is completing her Trilogy with VIRGINIA and bringing back INFERNA and CONVERSA.

Theatre Lab fans will be the first audiences to be able to experience the full trilogy in the order they are meant to be enjoyed (VIRGINIA, INFERNA, CONVERSA). Build your own schedule or join us on December 20th to see all three in one day!

About Joanna Castle Miller’s Bad Faith Trilogy

Raised within fundamentalist Christian nationalism, Joanna was given a clear script for identity and acceptance. Joanna Castle Miller’s Bad Faith Trilogy traces the process of questioning, dismantling, and ultimately rewriting that script, culminating in a life that stands in stark contrast to where it began. Performed by the playwright in rep, this trilogy explores the lure of Christian Nationalism, the punishment of women and girls, and the playwright’s discovery of Judaism as a new way to understand the world. At a time of deepening divisions, how can we challenge the cultural and ideological forces that shape our lives and attempt to contain us? And how can we help others find their own path to a freer, more openhearted life?

At Theatre Lab, we believe the future of theatre depends on investing in the next generation of storytellers today.

Programs like LabRATS do more than teach students about theatre, they give young artists the confidence, mentorship, and real-world experiences that inspire them to pursue creative careers and discover the power of their own voices.
Through LabRATS, students work alongside professional playwrights, directors, and actors, developing original plays and seeing their words come to life on stage. For many, it's the first time they realize that a life in the arts is not only possible, but necessary.

We want more of our community to know about and support this work. Because when we invest in young artists, we're investing in the future of theatre itself.

Over the next few weeks, we’re rolling out our plans for the 2026-27 season!

Our first MainStage marks the return of the incredible Joanna Castle Miller! This December, she is back at The Lab with her newest show, VIRGINIA, and the complete trilogy of plays including reimagined versions of both INFERNA and CONVERSA. Theatre Lab fans will be the first audiences to be able to experience the full trilogy in the order they are meant to be enjoyed!

ABOUT THE SHOW
Young Joanna knows America is a white Christian nation, and she plays her part in keeping it that way by staying pure (if you don’t count her thoughts about Thomas Jefferson). When her father becomes the 2016 nominee for president for a far-right third party, she decides to make a comedy show about it… and in the process, realizes things might never have been exactly what they seemed.

Looking back at our 2025-2026 season, our first MainStage show featured award-winning actresses taking on 30+ roles in a story full of mystery, adventure, and heart in “The City in the City in The City” by Matthew Capodicasa

Tess’s mother dies just before they are supposed to leave on a trip for the ancient city-state of Mastavia to retrieve a package left for them by Tess’s estranged father. Unwilling to give up the mission, Tess posts an ad online for a traveling companion with her mother’s exact name, and meets a new Laura, a mysterious woman eager to escape her life. This unlikely duo sets off on a journey to this strange city of doubles, mystifying bureaucracy, ancient graves, and a hidden world neither of them expected to encounter.

☀️Today we’re letting the sun shine on our Florida Member Theaters, with features from Core Member Florida Studio Theater in Sarasota and Associate Member Theatre Lab, housed on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

Florida Studio produces dozens of plays, musicals, & events each season catering to a variety of tastes —  many of them brand new works. Theatre Lab produces exclusively new and developing works, most often regional or world premieres, often bringing together students and professionals to help move scripts forward toward production. 

NNPN has a robust presence throughout the Sunshine State, and these two thriving theaters show that organizations both large and small can be new-play champions.

We’ll keep spotlighting Member Theaters from NNPN hotspots and celebrating the theaters, audiences, & stories that make the Network work all this month, when all donations will be matched up to $20K, thanks to the generosity of NNPN founder David Goldman and Carol Dweck. Please join in wishing our Administrative Assistant, Zoe, a very Happy Birthday!

Zoe has been a Theatre Lab fan since its inception and was part of the 1st group of students to come through the doors back in 2015. Another student field trip provided her the chance to see the first full production and world premiere of THE THREE SISTERS OF WEEHAWKEN in 2016. Through our educational outreach program, The Future PAGES Project, Zoe was able to explore the art of playwriting and would later see her work evolve onto the stage! She joined our team a few years ago and has been an invaluable addition to the company!

Zoe has been attending Theatre Lab Shows since it’s inception as part of the 1st group of students to come through Theatre Lab doors when it was established in 2015. Zoe and her classmates were able to take part in the Future Pages Project. She participated in the playwright workshop were she was able to explore parts of story through a unique topic. As a young artist she was able to explore the art of playwriting and watching her work evolve onto the stage! Additionally, Zoe was amongst the original groups of students to see the Theatre Lab’s founding world premiere production of 3 Sisters of Weehawken!

We’re grateful to have her on our team!
