We are gearing up for the BAD FAITH TRILOGY!
Join us on October 29th virtually or in person for a provocative conversation about what it takes to change a mind, including your own in โ€œHow a Far-Right Candidateโ€™s Daughter Became a Jew!โ€

Playwright and performer Joanna Castle Miller was raised to keep America pure, white, and Christian โ€“ until her father ran for President on a far-right third-party ticket and everything came apart. In this funny, candid discussion, she traces how a person walks out of an all-consuming belief system and finds her way, unexpectedly, to Judaism.

IN-PERSON at Bโ€™nai Torah Congregation and on Zoom. FREE for Bโ€™nai Torah members

October 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm | $10 for guests

VIRGINIA is the newest play in Joanna Castle Millerโ€™s, Bad Faith Trilogy (and, technically, the beginning of the trilogy)

VIRGINIA โ†’ INFERNA โ†’ CONVERSA

Each play stands completely on its own, but together they tell a bigger story. VIRGINIA sets the arc in motion, and seeing all three lets you experience the full impact of the trilogy. With a chance to see all three in one day (12/20)

So if youโ€™ve seen CONVERSA or INFERNA, this is your chance to go back to the beginning. And if you havenโ€™t seen any of them? Even better.

Come experience the full Bad Faith Trilogy right here at Theatre Lab

VIRGINA Performances:
*Saturday, December 5, 2026 Opening Night Celebration
12/6, 3pm; 12/11, 7:30pm; 12/13, 3pm; 12/20, 12pm

INFERNA Performances:
12/12, 3pm; 12/18, 7:30pm; 12/20, 3:00pm

CONVERSA Performances:

The first MainStage of the season is actually THREE SHOWS! This December, we welcome back the amazing Joanna Castle Miller and the full Bad Faith Trilogy.

Three plays about faith, identity, and the courage to change.

December 5-20, 2026

Raised within fundamentalist Christian nationalism, Joanna was given a clear script for identity and acceptance. Joanna Castle Millerโ€™s Bad Faith Trilogy traces the process of questioning, dismantling, and ultimately rewriting that script, culminating in a life that stands in stark contrast to where it began. Performed by the playwright in rep, this trilogy explores the lure of Christian Nationalism, the punishment of women and girls, and the playwrightโ€™s discovery of Judaism as a new way to understand the world. At a time of deepening divisions, how can we challenge the cultural and ideological forces that shape our lives and attempt to contain us? And how can we help others find their own path to a freer, more openhearted life?

After producing the world premieres of two of her plays earlier this year, weโ€™re thrilled to welcome this incredible playwright/performer back to Theatre Lab to kick off our 26-27 MainStage season! Theatre Lab faithful will be the first audiences to enjoy the full trilogy, in the order it is meant to be experienced, before it lands on stages throughout the country (and beyond). All three shows will run in rep - beginning with the newest play, VIRGINIA, and followed by re-imagined versions of both of last seasonโ€™s productions of INFERNA and CONVERSA. On Sunday, December 20th, fans of Ms. Castle Miller can join us for the unique opportunity to see all three in a single day!

As Theatre Lab keeps growing, weโ€™re also finding new ways to connect more deeply with FAU and the next generation of artists.
Now, being in a new space gives us even more room to do that. New tools. New possibilities. New ways to tell stories. And weโ€™re just getting started.

Keep an eye out for an official documentary coming soon as we take a look back at how Theatre Lab came to be, we canโ€™t wait to share it with you.

Baker Street Beginnings by Gina Montรฉt was not only our first show in our new space but it was also our best-selling Heckscher Theatre for Families show ever and enjoyed a critically-acclaimed sold-out run!

In addition, nearly 1000 students from 11 schools joined us at weekday field trip performances at low or no-cost to partner schools!

But, wait, thereโ€™s more! We provided more than 16 creative writing workshops serving nearly 600 students at partner schools! Every student who saw the show has been invited to submit a story of their own for the chance to join our Future PAGES Project program.

Weโ€™re expecting more than 1000 submissions by October 1st!

The top 2% of stories will be accepted into our 7-week residency where those students will turn their stories into an original show all their own! That show will premiere on Heckscher Stage at the Marleen Forkas Studio One Theater this December!

Weโ€™re so proud of this show, this program, and the impact it has on our community! Thank you to all of our supporters, the Executive Producers of Baker Street Beginnings, The Stoop Family Foundation Fund at the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, and, in particular, to the Heckscher Foundation for Children which makes this production and all of our educational outreach programming possible!

Community has a way of showing up when you need it most.
Weโ€™ve felt that love at Theatre Lab, and itโ€™s a reminder of why community matters so much. We want to be a theatre for YOU, because the world could use more conversation, more ideas, and more opportunities to connect.

This season, weโ€™re bringing South Florida audiences together through new plays, new artists, and new experiences. We canโ€™t wait to welcome you back to our new home for our upcoming mainstage productions and share these stories with you.
