SADLY, THE BOSS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!!
Steven Alan Green
July 17, 1945-January 9, 2026
Steven Alan Green, a music industry entrepreneur, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026. He was born on July 17, 1945, in New York City, the son of Julia Rich and Herbert Green.
Steven forged his own path from an early age. He left college to pursue a career in the music business, beginning at just 22 years old as a booking agent for a New York–based company. Driven by ambition and instinct, he soon opened his own agency, booking acts at clubs throughout Long Island.
Steve’s journey included change and reinvention. In 1984, he married Janice, his partner in both business and life. Together, with longtime business partner Mark Lyman who joined them in 1992, they created a successful portfolio of artists including Little River Band, Molly Hatchet, Dr Hook, Kansas, Percy Sledge, Bachman, Turner, Overdrive, Jerry Lee Lewis, and countless other iconic, classic rock names.
Steven was known not only for his entrepreneurial spirit but also for his unmistakable personality—driven, witty, and fearless.
He is survived by his life partner Janice, children Jessica (Robert Wells), Richard (Sara), his daughters by marriage Melanie (Robert Casper) and Marcie (Ryan Walters). He leaves behind his grandchildren, Julia, Caroline, Naomi, Rivka, Sara, Rochel, Miriam, Aliza, Penina, Robert, Caroline, Jackson, Eve, and Henry. Also surviving is his brother, Michael (Laura) and their children Hannah, Ben, and Sarah and many friends, colleagues, and artists whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Herbert Green.
Steven’s legacy lives on in the music he helped bring to the world, the family he loved, and the example he set of resilience, independence, and reinvention.
