Update: Good news - the new Executive Order on immigration does not affect F-1 students (the F-1 is a "non-immigrant" visa and the order only affects "immigrant" visa applicants outside the USA and some of those are exempt, too). H-1b visas are also not included in this order, so that process will continue as normal for now.
