“It felt like a sideways sunset.” 🌅

That’s how Typoe Gran describes the color behind the site-specific mural at the heart of 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦, layers of color beneath black-and-white drawings, with pages holding sketches you could get lost in.

Hear it from the artist himself. Join [email protected] for 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴: 𝘖𝘯 𝘔𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨, a behind-the-scenes talk on how his work comes to life, TOMORROW at 6pm. Free for members / $16 non-member adult / $9 non-member senior, admission included.

Tickets at the link in bio.

Wishing a sweet and peaceful new year to all who are celebrating. 🍎🍯

Tobi Kahn’s HYYLAH (Shofar Holder) II holds the shofar that sounds the holiday’s call to renewal, one of the ritual objects at the heart of Tobi Kahn: Quest for the Essence, opening this November at the Museum. Kahn’s work gives shape to Jewish practice while inviting all of us into a shared search for meaning and healing.

From all of us, Shana Tova.

Tobi Kahn, HYYLAH (Shofar Holder) II, 2024, acrylic on wood and ram’s horn, 19½ × 9 × 6 in.
