“jovial”- Fall 2026 Series - No.2

The second in my fall series — an oak leaf and acorn, inspired by those little hints of fall that have been showing up outside my window.

I’ve been working hard these past two weeks, soaking up every bit of autumn inspiration I can find. And now that the ideas are flowing… what’s next?

Hmmm… a birch leaf? An apple tree? A mushroom?

All the fall vibes are dancing around in my head, and I’m not quite sure which one will make it onto the canvas next.

“absence” - �Fall 2026 Series — No. 1

I just finished the first painting in my Fall 2026 series, and it didn’t quite turn out the way I originally imagined.
When I started, I thought this series would be moody — dark, gloomy, quieter colors. But somewhere along the way, pinks, bright oranges, and deep raspberry reds found their way onto the canvas.
The result is richer and deeper than my usual paintings, but still unmistakably colorful.
Maybe that’s what “absence” needed — not darkness, but color. Not emptiness, but the feeling of something missing surrounded by everything that remains.
The first of the Fall 2026 series is complete. And I’m curious to see where the rest of the series takes me.

SOLD — “otherwise” has been adopted!

This painting has landed with a lake lover, avid sailor, and now collector of kBaumgartenart, and now hangs in a Judge's Chamber. I love the mix of traditional and modern!

Knowing where my paintings find their new homes brings me so much joy. I love imagining “otherwise” now being part of a space and a life so connected to the Great Lakes.

Thank you for giving this piece a new home. It truly means so much to me.

In the works…. I always take many photos of a painting I’m working on…. I mark the changes needed on the photo. The photo seems to give me the best overall view of a painting. As you can see, this painting needs a bunch of changes and tweaks to give me the feeling I’m hoping for.

How it started…. I have been experimenting with hard edged painting for years. This was a collection, Lake Superior Fadings, I painted 7 years ago. Inspired by the light, colors and changing Lake Superior. They can be viewed at the new Essentia Hospital.
