The Youngstown Playhouse will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary with the 2024/2025 theater season. The Playhouse Archive Committee is currently in search of anyone who worked at or volunteered at the Playhouse anytime during the past 60+ years. This includes board members, office staff, actors, technicians, Women's Guild members, and anyone else that did anything at the Playhouse. Please get in touch with us with your contact information so that we can notify you as plans for this anniversary season are announced. We would love to have as many people return, as possible, to help us celebrate this milestone season. MORE PLAYHOUSE NEWS!!

I have just posted photos on my website of Playhouse productions which need to be identified. Go to www.jandbproductionarts.com and open the Playhouse Archives at the bottom of the menu. Then click on the sub-page of Photos Needing ID'd. The instructions on the page will explain everything. I will be adding photos from time to time over the next few years. There are a lot of photos needing to be identified for the 100th Anniversary. Please help by passing the word to others so they can check the page as well. I will also post this on my other pages. In response to several requests regarding which Playhouse playbills we are missing in the Archive Room, I have created a list of those missing playbills on my website. During my research for my book about the 100 year history of the Playhouse, I ran across an interesting item. Some of the book deals with what was happening around Youngstown during those 100 years.
In 1965 a movie was playing at the Sky-Hi Drive In (remember those)? It was called "The Satan Bug." It was about a virus that had been developed to kill all human life on the planet. Sci-Fi at the time. And the cast was rather impressive:
George Maharis, Richard Basehart, Anne Francis, Dana Andrews, Frank Sutton (of Gomer Pyle fame), Ed Asner, and Simon Oakland. The film has become rather obscure. Most people have never heard of it just like most people don't remember all of those Sci-Fi films about germ warfare - including some Twilight Zone episodes. The Twilight Zone --- just take a look at Market Street and 224.
