Capturing the images is actually just a very small part of a photographer’s journey. 📸
Most people think an hour-long session means an hour of a photographer’s time—but the reality looks a little different.
An hour session is never just an hour of our time.
Take into account the time spent communicating and planning before the session, preparing equipment, traveling to and from the venue or location, setting up, and then the session itself.
And once we get home, the behind-the-scenes work begins.
Let’s say your final gallery includes 35 edited images. If each image takes just 3–5 minutes to edit, that’s another 1 hour and 45 minutes to almost 3 hours spent editing alone.
And that's after we've already gone through every image from the session to cull out duplicates, missed focus, blinks, test shots, and everything in between. Then there’s uploading, backing up files, exporting finished images, creating your gallery, and delivering it to you.
For weddings and larger events? Multiply all of that by hundreds—or even thousands—of images. 😅
So when you hire a photographer, you aren't simply paying for the hour we're standing behind the camera.
You're paying for the time before and after the session, the equipment, software, education, experience, creativity, and the countless hours spent learning how to capture an image—and then turn that image into something you'll want to keep.
This photo is a little peek at what you don't usually see: the hours spent behind the computer after the camera gets put away.
The session may only last an hour.
