Dear Patron,
We have exciting news—a great way for you to support your favorite community theatre during the pandemic!
The Lauryn family is producing an online streaming performance as a benefit project for four local community theatre groups including Stray Dog Theatre. They have chosen the show CHAPATTI, a two-person play by the contemporary Irish playwright, Christian O’Reilly. They are presenting the play by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
Gail and Dave are taking the two roles; Ariel is directing, and Eric is assisting. Gail and Dave have many years of acting, directing, and other theatre experience; Ariel has professional credits in the same areas. They will record the show and make it available for viewing on Showtix4u, an internet streaming platform. The Beverly Theatre Guild is acting as their non-profit sponsor.
When
-Friday, April 9, at 7:00 PM
-Saturday, April 17, at 7:00 PM
-Sunday, April 18, at 3:00 PM
How to Get Tickets
Go to www.showtix4u.com and enter the name of the project sponsor, “Beverly Theatre Guild,” in the search box. The ticket will be emailed as a link and log-in code. One admission = one viewing screen (one device), so of course an entire household can take advantage of one admission. From every $10 admission price the Lauryns will donate $7.20 to the theatre group selected by the patron. (The balance, $2.80, will pay the Showtix4u hosting fee.)
When selecting admission to a performance, the website will present four options (types of ticket), one for each of the four theatre groups participating in this benefit project. Select “Stray Dog Theatre - $10.00” to direct the resulting benefit portion from your purchased admission to our theatre company. (The website will also offer you the opportunity to make a separate, additional donation. If you’re so inclined, we’d very much appreciate this extra help.)
About the Show
The Chicago Sun-Times described CHAPATTI this way: “Unfolding in a deft mix of heartache, despair and gentle comedy, the story is a mix of zesty self-narration and beautifully limned scene work. And it leaves you cheering for these two characters’ hard-won moments of happiness.” O’Reilly uses adult language to explore serious themes, including su***de, so we do not recommend this show for younger or more sensitive audiences.
We hope you will support this pandemic-induced benefit initiative to help keep area dramatic arts healthy until we can all meet in theaters again.
