More than 100 years ago, Bloomsburg held a dedication ceremony for the Civil War monument (1908) that sits in the middle of town, across from the fountain.

There were so many people at the celebration, spectators were forced to watch from the rooftops of surrounding businesses, which can be seen in this photograph. Businesses in town all closed at noon and schools let out early for the event.

🇺🇸Bloomsburg History - 1919 Welcome Home Parade🇺🇸
70 Civil War veterans marched along side 750 WW1 servicemen and nurses in a WW1 Welcome Home Parade held in Bloomsburg in 1919. Think about that... The Civil War ended in 1865.

The celebration lasted two days and included band concerts, baseball games, wrestling, boxing, fireworks and races.

Thousands attended.
