Today, we stand in awe of its beauty AND the light it provides.

After almost four long days without power following last week’s storm, Ewing Manor is officially back in the light! We still have recovery ahead of us, but having the lights back on feels like a wonderful step forward.

A huge THANK YOU to our BSW Heaven, our grounds worker Josh, our ISU facility crews, Prairieview Landscaping, ISU electricians Matt and Alan, ISU plumber Tyler, and Ameren who worked throughout the weekend to help get Ewing Manor back up and running. We are so grateful for the many people who showed up, worked hard, and helped us take another step toward recovery.

We’re reminded once again that this place, and the people who care for it, are resilient. ❤️

Our grounds are open for walking again. We are open for tours this evening from 4pm-6pm, last tour leaving at 5:15pm. Thank you for your patience as we catch up with phone and email messages!

Like so many of our neighbors across Bloomington-Normal, the grounds at Ewing Manor took a hard-hit during today's storm. We are heartbroken to lose a few of our beautiful, historic trees. Our team is officially in cleanup mode, clearing branches, assessing the damage, and beginning to put everything back in order.

Out of the debris though, we found a beautiful reminder of resilience. Our magnificent 100-year-old English Hawthorne tree stood tall and made it through the storm completely unbothered. It reminds us that deep roots can weather any storm.

To all of our neighbors who are doing the same today: we’re thinking of you. Take care, stay safe!

Note to visitors: Please excuse the mess and note our grounds will be closed for walking as we clean up.

This morning’s final performance of Get, Set, Romeo and Juliet WILL be performed, but we are RELOCATED to St. John’s Lutheran Church, just across Emerson from the Ewing Cultural Center. We hope to see you there!

Please enter from the south doors (at the back of the building). We’ll still have some seating available on the carpeted floor for kiddos (and any bigs) who prefer to be up front. Blankets and chairs will not be needed.

There is nothing quite like enjoying music in the Courtyard at Ewing Manor. The Illinois Shakespeare Festival hosts the Courtyard Music Series for free as a pre-show performance. Check out their calendar to see the local artists that will be taking the stage each night.

"Get Set, Romeo and Juliet!" The Illinois Shakespeare Festival's Theater for Young Audience performance is this morning at 10am!

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, grab some snacks and water, and head to the Ewing Manor grounds to see a fabulous, interactive and lively performance. Stay to enjoy the grounds after!

Everyone is welcome, admission is free. Every Thursday and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. on the grounds of Ewing Cultural Center June 25 - August 1. Written by Nancy Steele Brokaw and directed by Lori Adams.

This performance features "rewinds to try a different option. Both Romeo and Juliet end the show alive because they decide to come together to make a better solution, and see that they have more than 1 choice in a situation."

On this Independence Day, we celebrate not only our nation's freedom, but also the values that bring us together. After traveling the world, Hazle Buck Ewing reflected, "We discovered that what every thinking person longed for was to be able to live a life of peace and security for himself and his family." Her words remind us that, across our differences, our hopes are often the same.

In that spirit, we invite you to enjoy the grounds of Ewing Manor today. The gardens are open for all from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., offering a place to gather, reflect, and celebrate with family and friends—just as Hazle envisioned this special place bringing people together.
