Did you know we hosted over 100 education and engagement opportunities and interactions in 2025–2026?

Here’s another highlight from an incredible year of connection and learning ⭐️

Contemporary dance students participated in a Hamlet masterclass with Côté Danse’s artistic director, exploring movement and interpretation from the production. Local high school technical theater students also met with the production’s technical director and observed a live tech rehearsal, gaining firsthand insight into the behind-the-scenes process of bringing a performance to life.

This month, IU Auditorium is amplifying the work of Julio Torres, a Salvadorian multimedia artist that dabbles in the surreal and excels in the hilarious. After starting out as a writer at SNL, Julio found his voice as a stand-up comedian through absurd, conceptual sets like My Favorite Shapes and his off-Broadway show "Color Theories," which blur the lines between performance art and comedy.

Also an acclaimed television and film writer, Torres made his directorial debut with his film "Problemista" in 2023, in which he stars opposite Tilda Swinton. This year, Torres was named one of the featured artists at the 2026 Whitney Biennale: “a vivid atmospheric survey of contemporary American art shaped by a moment of profound transition,” (Whitney Museum of Art).

We can’t wait to see what the next weird, wild, and wonderful thing Julio Torres has up his sleeve.

Did you know that during the 2025–2026 season, more than 7,600 people participated in IU Auditorium education and engagement programs? ⭐️ Here’s another highlight from an incredible year of connection through the arts.

Mariachi Herencia de México brought music, culture, and inspiration to Bloomington students through two special educational experiences. The group performed for 600 students live at University Elementary School during an hour-long interactive performance, sharing the rich traditions of mariachi music.

They also worked directly with orchestra students at Bloomington High School North in a hands-on masterclass. Students learned a traditional piece in sectionals before joining the professional musicians for a collaborative performance creating an unforgettable musical experience together 🎻✨

Over the next three days, we’re honored to host nine commencement recognition ceremonies celebrating Indiana University graduates. Help us congratulate the Class of 2026 as well as recognize the incredible staff and crew who help bring these celebrations to life. 🎓
