✨ Potter Spotlight: Isabel! ✨
If you’ve ever come into the studio to paint your own pottery, odds are good that you’ve either met Isabel, or that she’s helped you without you even knowing it by clear glazing your piece, loading the kiln, texting you that your pottery is ready for pickup, and more! When she’s not busy in the glaze studio, she’s making her own fantastic work 👏 Swipe to check out some of her work, and keep reading to hear about what she loves about pottery!
✨ Favorite piece ever made?
“I think my favorite piece would have to be a vase that now lives in my brother’s apartment (the yellow one with star shaped voids all over it). It was so much fun to throw on the wheel, a shape I’d never tried before! The glazing was a fun experiment that turned out pretty cool!”
✨ Favorite item to make in general?
“I love to make vases because there’s so many different shapes and sizes you can make them and have them still be functional and unique!”
✨ What part of pottery do you like best, or find the most challenging?
“I enjoy the trimming part of pottery! It’s when the shape of the piece really comes alive. The most challenging aspect for me is definitely glazing — there’s so many options and combos!! I’ve been getting better about planning glaze combos for each piece which has helped me feel less overwhelmed about the process. It also helps to get recs from studio friends!”
