2019 feels like a completely different era. It was the last time we hosted our karaoke league, back when Bear's Place and the Irish Lion were still thriving. It was a time when Queen Elizabeth, RBG, Kobe Bryant, and Kyle Busch were still with us, and AI hadn’t yet changed the way we work. Bloomington was voted the #1 place to live in Indiana, gas was $2.20 a gallon, and a fast-food meal cost just $5–$7. We had no idea a pandemic was right around the corner.

Who were you in 2019? Looking back serves as a reminder to be grateful for the present. Join us as we step back in time to celebrate the music of that simpler year. 2019 hits only!

There is a phrase that says that “you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain”. Not many people both live long and are universally loved the entire time. Dolly was one of those rare humans. We will honor her light with musical theater for Week One of BTown Karaoke League.

The theme …. Goodbye Dolly.

Teams pick Dolly songs to perform anyway they like OR they pick any song while referencing 9-5, Best Little Wh******se in Texas or Steel Magnolias.

Ex. Perform referencing 9-5 while doing Bell Biv Poison or Britney Spears Toxic.

Karaoke song legend. "Turn around......."

Legendary pop singer Bonnie Tyler, who became known for hits including “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” and “Holding on for a Hero” has died, her family said Thursday. She was 75.

“Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for,” a statement said on her official social media accounts.

Tyler emerged from a monthlong coma in June but remained “very unwell” and in intensive care, her family said at the time.

HAPPY BDAY to Misfit Toy Karaoke’s undisputed reigning champion in EVERYTHING. Katie Thompson! Battle Karaoke Champ. Theme Karaoke Champ. Karaoke League Champion. There is no one more loyal and competitive than this woman right here (in true Ta**us fashion). She is a KJ’s dream. She’s there early and often. When she picks a song she reads the room. Most karaoke buffs want to do something obscure or their best stuff to impress. Doc KT (as she is known) will pick her song thinking of the what the room needs and then she kills whatever that is. I’ve been in business 15 plus years and she’s been there from the very start. Always getting better and people never see it coming.

On top of being my best customer she’s also one of best people I know and my friend. Happy Bday to the one and only Doc KT. You deserve to celebrated. ❤️
