New MUSICAL THEATER Workshop for Tweens & Teens!

ENCORE MUSICAL THEATER PROJECT

NEW!
NJSDA’s Encore Musical Theater Project (Grades 7 - 12):
A unique, pre-professional performance program dedicated to developing diverse and multi-dimensional theater artists. Students will continue to develop vocal skills and further develop the technique of acting through a song by exploring and interpreting the lyrics of the song. Group numbers, duets and solos will be used and decided by the cast members and directors. Each cast member will be given the opportunity to have a leading role and choose a song to perform either alone or with the support of the ensemble. Their choices will be guided and coached by the directors. As always, NJSDA encourages the unique abilities of each student. The semester will culminate in a complete staging of musical theater pieces performed in the NJSDA Black Box Theater.

NJSDA Encore directors Tatiana Bustamante and Leigh Weinman are passionate theater-arts professionals, committed to creating challenging, innovative, high quality work and providing a collaborative, motivating, interdisciplinary outlet for teen actors to broaden their performance skills.

Class is scheduled on Tuesday evenings September 17 - December 6 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. plus a tech rehearsal on Thursday, December 5 from 6pm - 8:30pm. Our showcase (2 performances) will be on the Friday, December 6th at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Who wouldn't love to see both Beth and Bob onstage performing together? Tomorrow night is the night! And Beth and Bob are trying their hands at some funny business! It's the Comedy Roast of Beth and Bob, a hilarious fundraiser for the New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts! With lots of funny comedians poking some fun and love at Beth and Bob, and of course since turnabout is fair play, they will take to the mic to sling some one-liners right back at the roasters! Hello all!! Did you know that there is a new Encore Theatre Company page? Yep, we are two in one! Encore Theatre Company is the organization that will be producing works designed for artists ages 16 to 26 who are interested in deepening their technique and immersing in pieces that may be edgier without edits. (Check out the Encore Theatre Company page to find out more about the current production of American Idiot.) Encore Youth Theater is designed for our younger artists -grades 6 thru 12 - who want the experience of working with a professional staff in a high quality production. Encore Youth Theatre will be producing both musicals and non-musicals! Now you know.
