Summer break is finally here, are you still looking for something fun and creative for the kids to do? We’re excited to have our Kids Summer Art Camp at The Art Department Studio, in our new Young Harris location! 🎨

Week 1: June 22-25, Ages 8 & 9
Week 2: June 29-July 2, Ages 10 & 11
Week 3: July 13-16, Ages 11 & 12
Week 4: July 27-30 Ages 12, 13 & 14
(The age groups are general based on projects, but there is some flexibility for sign up in weeks/ages).

Camp is Monday-Thursday. Drop off is at 10am pick-up is at 4pm.

Cost per week is $250 and includes all materials (please send your student with a lunch, snack and a drink). 👩🏻‍🎨

For weeks 1 & 2, we will be selecting several ideas from some of our classic projects/activities, which may include personalized sketchbooks, painted birdhouses, fluid acrylic pour, air-dry clay creations, polymer clay miniatures & caning techniques, tie-dye, textured maps, sculptural tic-tac-toe boards, dot-painted wares, faux stained glass, mini aquariums, decorated wood crafts/treasure boxes, mosaics, painted flower pots with plants, gem “mining”, painted aprons/totes, and more! 🧑🏽‍🎨

For weeks 3 & 4, we’ll revisit some of our classic projects from previous years, but with new/advanced ideas (such as alternative tie-dye methods, or a new techniques in fluid acrylics). We will also choose from some newer projects like 2-D mixed media collage, drawing and painting exercises, nature inspired leaf art, polymer clay objects and texture stamp/mold making ideas, spin art, printmaking concepts, decorated luminaries, dimensional gradient painting, artist renditions/interpretations in paint or pastel, personalized signage decor, and several other art forms we’re developing! 🖼
We also have some activities/projects that students can choose from if there is independent time, such as customized pencil cases, Perler beads, flipbooks, shrinky d**k keychain/necklace, watercolor, origami, beaded jewelry, stamps, rock painting, and a few more. 🖌

After a lot of construction to the building we’re now in, and even much more work done in the new studio areas, this room may never look this clean and empty again! 🖼
Now to “move in”, unbox, put everything together and start setting up for our creative and fun Kids Summer Art Camp, later in the summer (details to come)! 🎨

Have you heard? Victoria’s Antiques & More had a successful ribbon cutting yesterday at the new location, officially being welcomed into the Young Harris community! If you haven’t checked it out yet, the new address is 1360 Main St. Young Harris. Come enjoy a fantastic shopping experience!
The Art Department Studio is excited to be a part of the upcoming expansion within Victoria’s, which is currently under construction. We’re looking forward to re-opening in the near future with new projects, creative programs & activities for kids and adults! We’ll post updates as we get closer, and hope the New Year has been a great one for you so far!

We hope that all students have had a wonderful first day back at school today! We’ve sure missed having them in for our Summer Art Camp this year & wish we could have had our usual exciting, creative & fun time! But, we are continuing to move forward in our new location and hope to see everyone once we’re open. Until then, enjoy your new classes & teachers, be kind & meet new friends, and stay creative! Happy 4th of July! Hope everyone has a safe, fun & fantastic holiday!
As some of you know already, we are currently in a transition into our new location (which unfortunately has disrupted our summer camp). As we are part of Victoria’s Antiques & more, we’re all excited to relocate to our new spot in Young Harris!
