The hydrangea, or hortensia, captured in thread. Countless French knots, layered in three colors to give the right effect.

I started this piece in 2020 after being inspired by the hydrangeas blooming in my mother’s garden; and finished it whilst dreaming of the hydrangeas that bloom in my own garden now.

242 yards of worsted weight handspun 🧶✨ This is the best yardage I’ve ever gotten, AND I chain-plied it instead of 2-ply, so it’s 1/3 of its original length…no wonder I felt like spinning the single took forever 😅😂
