Visit 1. Asheville Art Museum. May 2, 2025. What resonates with the watcher illuminates the interior of the subconscious. Asheville Strong. First floor gallery. Anger is a consuming energy. I take photos of my favorite works. I take two photos of Act Up by Emma Watson - a sculpture of a middle finger creature, blobby, pustular, walking along on two other fingers. The nightmare machinery of “new facts” emerges and twists into horror on the canvas, by Nick Reynolds. “Your only function is to produce wealth for us” - a waist high vase by Matt Jones. Anger is an equal energy to love. It energizes. It consumes. This resonates on a Friday morning. Then a small piece draws me in. A drawing/photo of a dilapidated building and shed out in a field. It is not timeless - it is an image of how everything is changed by time, ages, falls apart, and is slowly taken over by the earth. Nothing lasts. Decay is beautiful. “Across from the old school” by Bill Green. I feel a little wobbly. I had a coffee and no breakfast this morning.
