The store is located at 105 Cherry Street, Black Mountain, NC, and online at https://sarahsunshinepottery.com. Sarah Sunshine Pottery is all handmade in Black Mountain, North Carolina, by Sarah Vekasi. Located in the heart of downtown, Sarah Sunshine Pottery has a shop at 105 Cherry Street, Black Mountain, and a studio seven blocks away where it is all made. Her love of wild and natural places is
reflected in the simple elegance of this functional pottery. Sarah grew up first in Glacier National Park, and then Acadia National Park. She has lived in the temperate rainforest, the high desert, on the ocean, in a Zen Monastery in Japan, in an Old Growth tree, and in India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. It is her love of mountains and rural places that helped Sarah settle in Black Mountain,NC in the heart of Appalachia, in 2010. Working with clay is a daily meditation. It brings me (Sarah) back to the direct moment, the specific placement of now, as making pottery requires focus and presence. Centering clay helps keep me centered, and producing pottery helps sustain all of my work.
