Report!! -🎶 Our First Adult Amateur Musicians Group Meeting!

We were thrilled to meet 11 musicians last night—7 violinists, 2 cellists, and 2 pianists! We have musicians from beginner to advanced levels, and some play more than one instrument.

We shared our goals and plans for upcoming community music-sharing events during a meet. We’re excited to keep making music together!

The library recently received a beautiful Kawai upright piano, generously donated by Bob Beck on behalf of his mother, Maureen Beck, including all the preparations to get it performance-ready. A beloved piano teacher in Bismarck for many years, Maureen was also instrumental -- in every sense of the word -- in the campaign committee that raised funds for the library's grand piano. Her love of music plays on through this wonderful gift to our community.

A heartfelt thank you to Bob Beck and to Dave Poffenberger, Chanson Poffenberger, and Andy Jangula for helping bring the piano to its new home in Meeting Room A. Many musicians will appreciate this gift for years to come!

This free public concert features performances by our camp students, followed by Dr. Sugiura performing works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and more.

Congratulations to Grayson on a fun and fantastic Senior Recital. A little bit of everything plus a pirate song sing-along with the assistance of dad. What a great idea! My Tuesdays will never be the same - I will certainly miss teaching Grayson.

Congratulations to my student Kyra J.! Kyra participated in the Minot State University Keyboard Arts Festival and received two First Place Winner Certificates in the Senior Student Division Competition for Classical Era and Modern Era style categories. In addition, we performed the second movement of Beethoven’s Op. 58 Piano Concerto No. IV in G Major for the NDFMC Junior Festival on Thursday. Kyra also performed her solos for the Bismarck festival with selections from Beethoven and Rachmaninoff. Well done!
