YOUR DAUGHTER DOESN’T HAVE TO LOOK LIKE HER TEAMMATE.
Two athletes can be taught the same fundamental.
They can be working toward the same outcome.
And they can still move a little differently.
That doesn’t automatically mean one of them is doing it wrong.
Every athlete is different—in the way she moves, the way she responds, and the way she learns.
There are fundamentals every athlete needs. But there aren’t “textbook” or “cookie-cutter” swings or defensive performances.
I don’t make adjustments simply because an athlete looks different.
I make adjustments when there is something we can do to:
• Create a better or more consistent outcome
• Make something more efficient
• Reduce injury risk
You can tell two athletes to do the same thing, and they may have similar outcomes while their body mechanics still look slightly different.
Let the athlete be herself while training to become better.
The individuality of each athlete is what makes this sport beautiful.
If you're looking for a coach who will take the time to understand your athlete as an individual instead of simply trying to make her fit a mold, that's how I approach training.
