The Capital Gallery Society is a foundation which operates a 501(c)(3) nonprofit retail art gallery in Bismarck, North Dakota. Our mission is "Celebrating History, Art, and Culture!" We are North Dakota's Full Service Fine Art gallery, offering complimentary design, consultation, and installation; and we have locations in Bismarck, Medora, and Fargo. We believe art is life, and life is art; it tra

nsforms your living or work space and has the power to connect and heal individuals on deep level. As a nonprofit organization, we are grateful for the financial support of our Capital Gallery Society Patrons, who commit annual contributions of $250 or more, and annual support from the North Dakota Council on the Arts.

Perhaps the most impressive feature of the TR Library is the one that holds the entire building up. The rammed earth wall was built by Dickinson based Winn Construction, and consists of 2 million pounds of material carefully spread out over 43 distinct color layers to mimic the colors of the Badlands. They estimate about 12,000 man hours went in to build it.

Ground broke in 2020, and 90,000 cubic yards of dirt would be moved to construct the site of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. Visiting today, the land looks as though it was always there. The Library was built to pursue the international Living Building Challenge, something that fewer than 40 buildings have achieved.

Beautiful art deserves a beautiful view! Alicia Leingang already has a new piece up at the TR Library to replace the one that sold.

Why a Sasquatch for the TR Library? In his 1893 book, The Wilderness Hunter, Roosevelt recounts a story that an old mountain man told him on one of his western trips. Though the terms Bigfoot or Sasquatch are not used, TR re-tells the chilling story of a great mountain “goblin” pursuing the hunter and his friend in the Bitterroot Range, with only the hunter living to tell the tale.
