Birmingham Village Players

Birmingham Village Players Join us as we celebrate our second century of providing high quality theatrical entertainment! Each production runs between 6 and 8 shows.

The Village Players contributes to the culture of the community by offering opportunities for adults and youth to participate in all aspects of the theater arts from acting in high quality, diverse plays and musicals, to working behind the scenes as a part of a production team, to writing original plays to developing theater programs for youth, to encouraging an overall interest in and enthusias

m for theater in our community. The Village Players typically presents 5 major productions annually (a mix between musicals and dramatic shows). The Village Youth Theater presents two musicals annually, one in December and one in June. It also holds a four-week Summer Theater Arts Camp in June and July and runs workshops throughout the year. Playwrights @ Work hosts a Shorts and Sweets program in the spring and fall and a One-Act Weekend annually in July.

Once On This Island is a delightful musical that tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl in the French Antilles who falls in love with a wealthy boy, Daniel, and makes a deal with the island’s gods to save his life, ultimately proving that love is stronger than death and prejudice. This award winner is known for its joyful storytelling and powerful message.
