Before the snow falls and the tree grows, there’s the rehearsal studio. 🎄

A look back at last year’s youth cast hard at work preparing for George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®. Every season, these young dancers share the stage with our professional company in this beloved holiday tradition.

This year’s cast is back in the studio now. See them on stage December 12 to 22 at the BJCC Concert Hall.

Sharing the stage with the Company, high above Birmingham ✨

Our Day Program dancers joined the Alabama Ballet Company at Ballet in the Sky to perform Heirloom by Katie Drozd, a new work that premiered right there under the open sky at Vulcan Park & Museum.

Moments like these are what the Day Program is all about: training in the studio and performing in a variety of settings both on stage and out in the community🩰

What a night 🤍 Last Friday, our students and guests from across the community spent an evening with Skylar Brandt, Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre, for Raising the Barre: From Studio to Stage.

We watched her dance, heard about her path from student to professional, and listened as our dancers asked her the questions they’ll carry into the studio for years.

An evening like this takes generous partners, and we’re so grateful to ours. A massive thank you to:

Gatehouse Law and Josh Andrews, for sponsoring the evening and investing in the next generation of dancers
Ray Jordan and Flower Buds, for stunning florals
Spina Importing Co., for providing the w**e

Thank you also to the Alabama Ballet School Parent Guild for presenting Raising the Barre, and to Skylar for sharing her time, her artistry, and her story with everyone in the room.
