Registration for Spring 2027 is open!

Unleash your child's creativity!

City Center Art is Space One Eleven’s after school studio art program for students of all skill levels and is designed to build visual communication skills and foster creative thinking. Throughout the semester, young artists learn the elements of art and principles of design, strengthen foundation skills, and further their understanding of art criticism, art theory, and art history.

Cost is never a barrier to creativity. Thanks to the generosity of foundations and private contributors, families may qualify for free or reduced class costs.

Works from the "Upsouth" exhibition at Space One Eleven
January,1999

This exhibition examined the struggle of southern artists, especially women, to create a dialogue that would be heard in the broader national conversation about race, class , gender and geography.

It examined the ways in which the subjects of our national conversations are barred from contributing to it themselves.

Works from the exhibition "House and Garden: Twists on Domesticity" at Space One Eleven, September 15, 2000.

This exhibition featuring the works of Karen Beall, Jon Coffelt, and Carolyn Wade explored contemporary themes through a traditional domestic lens. Using familiar home decor and traditionally domestic mediums such as sewing and cross stitch, the artists challenged the viewer's relationship to both domestic life and contemporary art.

Another great week of art classes! Our young artists learned about self-portraits as a tool for self-expression, and learned core skills related to line quality and color in the process!

For almost 40 years, SOE has strived to transform our community through the celebration of art. In 2015 Space One Eleven looked back over the last 28 years of that mission with our retrospective exhibition "Quietly Making a Loud Noise."

The exhibition showcased the work of over 700 artists who participated in SOE art programs and exhibitions. In addition to looking back at our history, this exhibition explored the changes in art creation, exhibition, and documentation from 1986-2014, by projector slides and carousels next to monitors and digital projectors.

Our first week of fall classes was great! We have a mix of returning and new artists, and we were so excited to see some familiar faces from summer camps come back for after-school classes!

We're looking forward to a creative, fun-filled semester!

Do you know a young artist who would benefit from a supportive, creative environment to make art, make friends, and learn from experienced, professional artists? We still have seats in our after school classes, follow the link below to learn more:
