Wilderness Trails Zoo Discover the wild side of Mid-Michigan at Wilderness Trails Zoo. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every visit supports animal care and zoo improvements.

Located in Birch Run, enjoy 56-acres of up-close views of 200+ exotic animals from around the world. Wilderness Trails Zoo opened in 1991. Our trails take visitors through 56 acres of natural surroundings to see exotic animals such as primates, zebras, lions, reptiles, and parrots. There is a petting area and parakeet encounter for an up close and personal adventure with our animals. Guests can also imagine life as a bird-eating spider or a red-tailed boa constrictor in our “Rainforest Experience.” There are also feed stations throughout the zoo to feed animals such as goats and fish. After feeding the animals around the zoo, your family can relax and enjoy your lunch in our “Picnic Pavilion.” If the kids still have energy after their zoo adventure, they can pretend to be monkeys and swing and hang on the playground equipment.

Oct. 17–18 & 24–25 | 10 AM–6 PM
Our main vendor event, with two weekends of fall festivities and trick-or-treating.

🌙 FAMILY NIGHTS • All ages
Oct. 16 & 24 | 6–10 PM
Evening opportunities for family-friendly vendors.

👻 HOWL-O-WEEN ADULT NIGHTS • Ages 21+
Oct. 17 & 23 | 7–11 PM
A great fit for unique, spooky, or adult-oriented vendors.

We’re welcoming local vendors and businesses to join us at the zoo! Come promote your business, meet new customers, and see what being part of a zoo event is all about. No strings attached, just an opportunity to connect and hopefully build lasting event partnerships.

The zoo is staying up late for Halloween!

Our family Howl-O-Ween nights are Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 24. We’ll be open continuously from 10 AM–10 PM, so you can make a day of it or join us for an evening at the zoo.

Regular zoo admission or your membership covers both the day and family evening. No separate evening ticket needed.

Get the costumes ready and bring the family to Wilderness Trails Zoo in Birch Run.

One more Friday Night Lights at the zoo.

Join us this Friday, October 9, from 7–11 PM for the finale at Wilderness Trails Zoo in Birch Run. Your ticket includes buffet dinner and an open bar by Tom Wood Catering, Michael Root live from 8–11 PM, and a walk through the zoo after dark.

It’s a night out that helps improve Mick and Leo’s outdoor habitat.

Ages 21+. $125 per person or $100 for zoo members.

Our Grand Finale is October 9, and it’s the last chance in 2026 to spend a Friday night at the zoo while helping support Mick & Leo’s Lion Habitat Improvement Project.

Come for the zoo after dark, dinner, open bar, live music, animal experiences, games, prizes and the Wild Experiences Auction.

One week from tonight, Friday Night Lights comes to an end for 2026.

Five nights down. One Grand Finale left.

One more night to walk the zoo after dark, spend time with the animals, have dinner and drinks under the lights, listen to live music, play the games, and see where the Wild Experiences Auction takes us.

And one last Friday Night Lights fundraiser this season for Mick & Leo’s Lion Habitat Improvement Project.

If you’ve been meaning to make it to one, October 9 is the last one.
