Wilderness Trails Zoo

Wilderness Trails Zoo Wilderness Trails Zoo is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Come visit us and take a stroll through our shaded paths and see our resident animals!

Looking to escape winter? Book a premium rainforest experience- wildernesstrailszoo.org/winter-tropics Wilderness Trails Zoo opened in 1991. Our trails take visitors through 56 acres of natural surroundings to see exotic animals such as primates, zebras, lions, reptiles, and parrots. There is a petting area and parakeet encounter for an up close and personal adventure with our animals. Guests can

also imagine life as a bird-eating spider or a red-tailed boa constrictor in our “Rainforest Experience.” There are also feed stations throughout the zoo to feed animals such as goats and fish. After feeding the animals around the zoo, your family can relax and enjoy your lunch in our “Picnic Pavilion.” If the kids still have energy after their zoo adventure, they can pretend to be monkeys and swing and hang on the playground equipment.

🌎 World Environment Day 🌎

We're excited to share a first look at one of the future ADA Accessible Community Garden beds planned for Wilderness Trails Zoo's Community Garden Project.

Designed and built by one of our directors, Kelsie, this raised garden bed is wheelchair accessible and serves as a preview of the inclusive spaces we hope to create as the project continues to grow.

The goal of the Community Gardens is to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to connect with nature, learn, grow, and enjoy the outdoors together.

This display is just the beginning, and we're excited to continue bringing this vision to life for our community.

💚 Happy World Environment Day from all of us at Wilderness Trails Zoo.

🐾 Meet Our New Geoffroy's Cats! 🐾

We're excited to welcome Geoffroy's cats to Wilderness Trails Zoo!

Native to South America, Geoffroy's cats are the second-smallest wild cat species in the Americas, weighing just 4–11 pounds. Despite their small size, they're excellent climbers, skilled hunters, and even known to swim when needed.

One of our newest residents displays a rare melanistic coloration, giving it a much darker appearance than the typical spotted coat seen in Geoffroy's cats.

Stop by and see if you can spot both of these incredible felines during your next visit!

Wild Fact Wednesday 🐻

When a black bear stands on its hind legs, it's usually trying to get a better look at its surroundings—not preparing to attack.

And here's another fun fact: every black bear has a unique nose print, much like a human fingerprint!

🚧 Petting Zoo Progress Update! 🚧

Exciting things are happening at Wilderness Trails Zoo! Construction on our new petting zoo barn continues, and we're thrilled to share that the concrete work is scheduled for this Wednesday.

A huge thank you to Oliver Concrete Inc. for generously sponsoring the concrete for this project. Community partnerships like these help us continue improving the zoo for both our animals and guests.

We can't wait to share more updates as the new barn takes shape. Stay tuned!
