Gorgeous details from North Light by artist Daniel Fox, on view at Artisan Gallery through June 27 ✨ Gallery hours are Tues-Sat from 11-3 and Thurs 11-8 at 223 State Street, Binghamton.

Motivated by a love of art and nature, Daniel Fox has continually pursued oil painting over his life. His paintings have appeared in national juried exhibitions and have won numerous awards.

Artist Statement: I'm calling this exhibit "North Light" for two reasons. The first is the quality of light in our region, which can be excellent, mainly when the sun shines! The second is the consistency of light that shines into a window facing north, which allows an artist to paint in natural light at all hours of the day, without the shadows changing. I am fortunate to have such a window!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on First Friday for an Opening Reception celebrating Daniel Fox and Patricia Hauptfleisch at Artisan and Art Path Galleries. Sarah Vahaplar exhibited pinhole camera photography at the Artist in Residence Studio and Artful Child Gallery featured new works by students at The Discovery Center.

Current exhibits on view through June 26. Gallery hours are Tues-Sat from 11-3 and Thurs 11-8 at 223 State Street, Binghamton.

Join us for the first Mend & Make Circle on Saturday, July 11 from 1-3 PM at Broome County Arts Council's Artisan Gallery.

A relaxed, creative gathering for anyone interested in giving beloved clothing and textiles a second life. Whether you’re patching a worn sleeve, repairing a favorite pair of jeans, exploring visible mending, or experimenting with decorative techniques like Sashiko and Boro, this is a welcoming space to stitch, learn, share ideas and be inspired.

Bring your own clothing or textile project along with any supplies you have. Some participants may share tools, fabric scraps, threads, techniques and ENCOURAGEMENT. Beginners and experienced makers are welcome!

We’ll meet once or twice monthly to slow down, create together and celebrate the beauty of repair, resourcefulness and well-loved things. This first meetup will be at BCAC (223 State Street). Free and open to all!

Have you always wanted to crochet but don’t know where to begin? Confused by crochet terms, not sure what yarns to use? This class will answer your questions!

We’ll begin by reading the information on the yarn label. Next we’ll learn basic crochet stitches and those confusing abbreviations for stitches. Also covered is how to read crochet patterns that look like they’re written in a secret code. Once you learn some basic stitches, we’ll crochet a granny square. This fun project can be made in multiples and turned into bags, scarves, pillows and blankets.

Crochet isn’t just a “Grandma” hobby, it actually offers health benefits acting as a stress reliever. Crochet improves focus and hand eye coordination. This is a portable hobby and helps control anxiety and relaxation, something we all need in this busy world. Join us and learn this fun creative skill.
