We have two new faces to introduce to you all😍
On July 11th, red pandas Pavitra and Pabu welcomed two new cubs into the world! Now just shy of one month old, the cubs are reaching exciting developmental milestones. Their eyes have begun to open, allowing them to explore the world around them for the first time, and their pale gray and white coats are gradually transforming into their distinctive red fur.
The births are especially exciting as they represent the second consecutive year that Pabu (6) and Pavitra (3) have had offspring, an encouraging outcome for an endangered species. While they are growing quickly, the cubs will remain inside their nesting box for several more weeks until their motor skills are thoroughly developed and mom is comfortable. Until then, their father, Pabu, is separated from Pavitra and cubs, but is still visible in his outdoor habitat. Pabu will be introduced to the cubs as they grow larger.
