Danielle Egnew and the Moonshine Preachers

Danielle Egnew and the Moonshine Preachers An Americana explosion! Relentless groove w/ Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Percussion, & other wild sounds!

12/12/2025

Hey everybody! This is Danielle šŸ˜‡šŸ’œ! l just wanted to pop on here real quick with an update!

The Moonshine Preachers and I have not played in a while, and that’s simply because I had a great big move 45 minutes out of town this past year that really took up a lot more of my time and focus than I thought it would.

In addition to that, I’ve been letting my music rest just a little bit with the passing of my soul, sister and very very bestie pal, Holly Shawver, a year ago in November.

I took about a year until I could really pick up the guitar again , or really, sit down with much any music. Being at the piano was better as it didn’t remind me as much of playing music with Holly.

I’m feeling more inspired to pursue more music these days, which is wonderful, and I can feel Holly from the other side, giving me a small push, telling me to get the heck back out there.

So I have been talking to Patrick and Pete, seeing what we can do to get some small gigs perhaps in the next part of the year worked out. Everybody schedule’s have been pretty busy, but I sure do miss playing for everybody, and we’ll see if we can get back in the saddle in 2026!

I sincerely hope everybody is having a glorious holiday season, and that you are loving on all of your friends and family!!! The Moonshineļæ¼ Preachers sure love you!!šŸ’œšŸ’œšŸ’œ

You guys. I just have to share this because Rebecca’s asleep and this just hit me like a 12 foot wave, and I’m bursting with it, and I have to share it with someone —

I am having one of the moments when I am bowled over in AWE with the amazing people in my life. Just—in *awe* of the love and talent and heart that surrounds me. I’m so profoundly blessed, and lucky, and fortunate to have the people in my life, that are here. I won the lottery in all counts. Even in my music life.

I got done with Danielle Egnew and the Moonshine Preachers rehearsal tonight and it was honestly just incredible. Such a tight, precise, warm and tasty Americana band with Patrick and Peter.

And last week, Into The Plow rehearsal blew my mind away with arrangements we worked up—a wide rockin’ wall of intricate clockwork sound with Skip and Pete and Holly.

And then there’s Pope Jane. The band that communicates without ever talking, that just *knows* what one another is gonna do. Pope Jane is Pope Jane—its own Being.

Holly and I live here and Kristen lives in Vancouver, WA. I spent last week emailing off videos to Kristen in WA state of the new songs we’re playing. Just me playing guitar, and singing her backup vocal line. She’ll learn it out there, we’ll have a few hours to rehearse it Friday after she flies in, then showtime. Thats how talented she is. Out of me, Kristen and Holly, Kristen is the only member of Pope Jane that had perfect takes every time, in the studio. One-and-done Coyner. She had to sit there in the control rooms album after album while Holly and I slagged through the rest of the recording process. It’s just the way it was.

THESE are the people that have brought me to my proverbial musical knees in gratitude, for what they’ve given me, some for 30 years, some for a briefer time, but all the same—the grace and opportunity and creative freedom these folks afford me is phenomenal. It’s honestly mind-bending when I think about it. Thus this post and my need to share.

These folks learn my music, you guys. They take the time to learn it and perfect it and turn my three chords into a genius opus.

I’ve written the music for each one of these bands. Some songs I’ve written by myself, some with Holly, or Kristen, or others along my journey. Yet they’re all my songs; each band has such a different sound. And each sound is perfect for the music.

I guess I’m trying to say that who, in life, is lucky enough to run across so many outstanding musical artists, who not only want to play your stuff, yet are open to your arrangements?? Who will walk with you, and help shape the art that comes out of you, into something more extraordinary as an ā€usā€?

I mean, who gets to live that life?? Besides Taylor Swift??

I do. In three different bands; three different sets of genius. Three different sounds.

It hit me that this March 2nd show at Rhoadside Event Center is literally my ā€œErasā€ tour, from Pope Jane’s 1994’s ā€œPope Janeā€ self-titled debut cassette, to 1998’s ā€œReliefā€, to 1999’s ā€œhide me from the moonā€, to 2001’s ā€œIndustry Whoreā€, to 2004’s ā€œDog and Pony Showā€, to my 2008 solo album ā€œRed Lodgeā€ , to my solo 2020 singles, to Moonshine Preachers 2022 EP ā€œWeekends Are My Drinking Daysā€, to 2023’s Holly and my ā€œRoom 203ā€ writing sessions in White Sulfur Springs, and my viral 2023 TikTok video .

Each era filled with significance, and heartbreak, and new life lessons, and levity, and ridiculousness and wild messages, all so excited to have life breathed into them by the different interpreters that are called ā€œmusiciansā€.

This is the life of a song. This is the life of a musical artist—music, the collaboration between you, astounding magic from the universe that just beams in, and the uplifting genius of the musicians around you.

This is what I’ve been bowled over by tonight. This awareness: I’ve had 30 years (and counting) of this transcendent, magical, soul-stretching experience. Most people never get a day with it. Not one day. And here I am, soaked in an embarrassment if riches in the talent of others.

Holly Shawver, Kristen Coyner, Peter Michelotti , Patrick Bjorndal, and Skip Johnson— from the bottom of my guts, my heart, and my spirit—thank you. Thank. You. All. šŸ™šŸ’œ
