It’s finally here!

After years of development and preparation, Room by the Sea begins previews at TONIGHT!
The cast and creative team have really put their all into this and I couldn’t be prouder nor more excited to share this with you all.
Previews run tonight through Tuesday and then one more next Saturday at a discounted ticket rate. There might be some bumps as we make final tweaks but this is a great chance to come experience it.
Also: we have a custom cocktail menu for this production! Come early for a drink, stay after with us and enjoy this beautiful new theater space in the heart of Highland Park.

Some of you probably don’t know that my roots are in live theater as a director of new work. It’s been nearly 7 years since I directed for the stage, having shifted to film, video, and photography full time after the COVID lockdowns. and I studied at CalArts together and have been good friends ever since, and his writing has always been beautiful, poetic, haunting, and reaches us at the core of our shared humanity, so when he approached me with this script of course I said Yes.
Years of development and tireless efforts by and to find us a properly accessible space - not just for audience but for performers as well - finally came together with ‘s gorgeous brand new space in Highland Park.
And here we are: crafting magic and building something new on the bones of ancient myths in an incredible space, supported by people who are truly passionate about sharing this highly relevant story with audiences.
Come fly with us starting next month.

I didn’t realize until way too late that was taking place right up the street from me instead of SF. Fortunately I had some time to pack up the baby and bring her over to the go cart track to catch some of the qualifier heats at least. So with a 15 month old balanced on my hip, I got a few shots in and she had a blast watching all the bikes fly by. Good to see some friends both on the bikes and behind the scenes!

More pics to come eventually, but dad duty and work first…

What started as a gusty, potentially disastrous late afternoon on the beach turned into a massive romantic success for ‘s elaborate beach proposal. When I arrived, the wind was blowing everything over and none of the decorations were staying in place, but as soon as they got to the beach the wind died down and everything was perfect. Congrats to the newly engaged couple and thank you for allowing me to capture your special moment!

Our annual retreat/reset to Big Sur was a bit different this year. Far less photos taken with the big cam and far less ground covered with exploring, partially due to the 1 behind closed just north of us but mostly due to navigating camping with an 11 month old for the first time 😅. She did great, and seemed to love every bit of it, but didn’t have a lot of patience for dad stopping to take photos😬.
