🧡 Dear Friends and Community, I hope to see you tomorrow night (or Tonight, depending on when you see this! 😉) at BevCam

🧡Lisa Kawski and Krystal Demaine, music therapist and professor at Endicott are surely going to make the evening memorable. I am so grateful to Liz at BevCam for moderating the podcast we are filming.

🧡 The arts are such an integral catalyst for healing and change and we are steadfast in our mission to offer community and connection for survivors of in**st and childhood sexual abuse and to all of the supporters who love them✨

🧡This event is free and donations are appreciated!

🧡 As an artist, one theme I have always been drawn to is duality. I loved creating art that had both/and as well as either/or interpretations. Sometimes things may seem very clear. Other times they may not. I believe this can be reflective of our human experience.

🧡 When first given the opportunity to pick a petal from .forest I chose this one. I was drawn to this word and interpreted it personally as “I am Enough”

🧡 Today when I look at this petal I see and feel another interpretation: Enough is Enough! So many of us feel silenced while abuse is happening all around us.

🧡One thing that ties these two interpretations together for me is shame. Not feeling like I am enough comes from having experienced this trauma. Feeling like enough is enough also comes from the result of the collective shame and taboo nature and feeling live voices must be heard to bring about healing.

🧡 I cannot thank Joanne enough for making these petals and sharing her art as a salve and medicine for survivors to pick what they need. She is another artist who is acting this month and all year to support survivors through the arts.

🧡 What word would you pick for yourself for encouragement today? All the petals come together to make a full bloom, filled with our individual scents.

🧡 Right On! Ever curious about the person in front of you when stopped at a red light 🚦 and you get to read their bumper stickers?

🧡 I want to get this one! While driving to my office job at an expressive arts counseling center and studio yesterday, I wondered what it would be like if I could follow this message every single day.

🧡 Plus I wanted to meet the person driving!

🧡 What messages keep you going? What do you follow to keep you on the road to healing?

🧡Art is definitely my ticket, and I’ve seen time and time again how it helps me and others.

🧡 Morning! Like many of you, my day gets started with a warm cup. This is one of my favorites…when it heats up, Mama Bear 🐻 comes out!

🧡 For all mamas, but especially mama survivors, it can be a challenge to feel like we can adequately protect and prevent our cubs from childhood sexual abuse.

🧡 Survivor Nest roars with support to this month and every single day! Check out the amazing work of this organization.

🧡 I was so delighted to hear that the theme from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and SAAM is “Together We Act, United We Change”

🧡 To me this theme is especially relevant and resonant with my approach to healing in community; comprised of survivors and the people who care for them.

🧡This handmade cardboard nest has been in my home for over a decade and the heart was a gift; these, along with other mementos are on an alter in my house. So much has happened for me on my healing path since gathering this collection of objects, and they are a reminder that desires can turn into realities.

🧡What actions have helped you feel comforted and united in creating change, in nurturing your dreams?

🧡 Survivors need support. We can do this. Together 🌱

🧡 I found this tiny nest off the sidewalk two days ago and was amazed at how delicate and soft it was

🧡Now that Sexual Assault and Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Month has come to a close this April 2024 my wish is for healing and nurturing for survivors and people they love continues.

🧡 May we all be tender to each other, slow down and realize healing takes time, and hold each other delicately in our days moving forward

🧡 When I was at Joanne’s Survivor Forest on Thursday she mentioned how ancestors can support us. She dedicated a tree to her mother who passed away, her mother who loved trees, her mother who was the inspiration of finding her healing through the process of making them.

🧡This morning while at my Airbnb I found some Folgers Crystals, the drink that brought me straight back to memories of my grandmother.

🧡 I drank this cup of coffee this morning feeling her loving support and presence with me.

🧡 To all the glimmers and reminders we receive from our past loved ones who help us in our healing path!! The little things are big things 🧡Grazie!
