Do you know where the eyes on a peacock’s feathers come from?

In Greek mythology, they belonged to Argus, the hundred-eyed guardian. After his death, Hera placed his eyes in the peacock’s tail so he could watch forever.

In 1963, Salvador Dalí transformed that legend into Argus in Color, a dazzling hand-colored etching published by Pierre Argillet. Hundreds of eyes radiate across the sky like stars, turning a simple myth into something cosmic.
