As part of our ongoing effort to maximize visibility and amplify the voices of emerging artists, we’re excited to share that Academy Gold updates will now be featured across the Academy’s Facebook and LinkedIn channels.

While this means we’ll be phasing out our dedicated Gold social accounts, it also means the incredible work, stories, and achievements of Gold participants will reach millions more film lovers around the world.

We’re so proud of what this community has built, and we can’t wait to continue celebrating the next generation of filmmakers on an even bigger stage!

Proud to announce that 14 students are winners of the 52nd Student Academy Awards, out of a total of 3,127 entries from 988 colleges and universities around the world. All Student Academy Award-winning films are eligible to compete for the 98th Oscars in the Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film or Documentary Short Film category. Past winners have gone on to receive 69 Oscar nominations and have won or shared 15 awards. The 52nd Student Academy Awards ceremony will be held on Monday, October 6.

💥 OPPORTUNITY ALERT: Film Independent's Screenwriting Lab is a two-week workshop designed to provide emerging screenwriters with project development opportunities and creative mentorship. Each fellow will be paired with a Creative Advisor who will assist them in developing a single fiction feature screenplay throughout the program.

Last week, the 2025 Gold Rising cohort celebrated 8 weeks of expanded knowledge, new friendships and life-changing experiences at their graduation ceremony! 🎓✨

Brooke Breton, VP of the Academy Foundation and Academy Governor (VFX Branch), delivered an inspiring keynote address. Additional speakers included Academy staff members and student speaker Jason Lee.
