There’s something extra fun about coming home with special colors of sea glass and already knowing what they might become.

Finding those beautiful aquas, seafoams, sages and greens is half the fun — that little flash of color underwater, the excitement of picking it up, and wondering what the sea has given us this time.

Then comes my other favorite part… creating with them.

Our newest Seacculents™ are made with genuine sea glass we personally found while snorkeling and beachcombing, carefully grouped by those gorgeous coastal colors and turned into little gardens that will never need watering.

And apparently I’m not the only one who loves them — two are already gone!

From the sea… to our suitcase… to my worktable… and now to someone’s home. I really do love this part.

Look what came home with us! 🌊

Our newest one-of-a-kind piece of coastal fiber art — Tidal Falls™.

At a whopping 68 inches long, this one is a true statement piece, created with premium cotton cord, authentic weathered driftwood, shells, a naturally holed hag stone and two tiny hanging gardens.

And those little gardens got an upgrade! Nico made our new engraved wooden Seacculents™ pots, which I absolutely love. The Sea Glass Seacculents™ can even be added in clear or Caribbean green.

This one was too special to leave behind, so yes… it traveled home with us from Saint Martin. ❤️🌴

And that may be a wrap on our last hunt of this little birthday getaway trip! 🌊

Not a bad way to finish either. A nice patterned piece, a tiny piece of pirate glass, a dime and a mysterious little metal find, two beautiful pieces of sea pottery with their patterns still showing, two pieces headed straight under the blacklight when we get home, and what appear to be two little pieces of broken marbles.

Then there’s that fabulous chunky white piece — absolutely no idea what it once was, but I love it — and of course the enormous green embossed mystery piece that has kept us guessing all afternoon. HERO? HETO? Something else entirely? The jury is definitely still out!

Not necessarily the biggest haul of the trip, but what a wonderfully weird assortment to end on. And really… aren’t the mystery pieces half the fun?

The patterned ceramic pieces definitely fit the sea-pottery/sea-porcelain category; surviving decoration is exactly the sort of clue collectors can sometimes use to trace a piece’s origins.

The Mysterious Reappearance of Hagatha Christie! 🔎🪨🌊

Well, well, well… look who’s back! 😂

After disappearing from the hiding spot where I left her, I figured Hagatha Christie had found herself a new home.

Apparently not.

Yesterday, after some knucklehead had driven on the beach, I was walking along and practically stubbed my toe on her! There she was, back in almost the same spot.

And apparently Hagatha had been busy while she was gone… she brought friends! 😂
Some mysteries are simply meant to be kept. ❤️
And may I introduce… Hagatha Christie and the Hag Stones. 🎸🪨😂

Isn’t she a BIG beauty?! 😍

The largest hag stone I’ve ever found—and she definitely deserved a name.

Meet Hagatha Christie! 😂🪨🌊

Hag stones are naturally formed stones with a hole worn completely through them by water over time, and there’s centuries of folklore surrounding them. They’ve been considered lucky, protective, and even a little bit magical. ✨

P.S. Hagatha couldn’t come home with me. She was just too big and heavy, so I tucked her away in a hidden spot on the beach, thinking I might go back for one last look.

Apparently someone else decided she was too good a mystery to leave unsolved. 🌊

Today’s finds! 🌊💙

The star of today’s haul has to be that big, beautifully frosted chunk from an old Coca-Cola bottle — thick, heavy aqua glass with loads of character.

We also found several other gorgeous aqua and seafoam pieces, a sweet little ice blue, and a couple pops of cobalt blue.

And then there’s the pottery! ☀️ The cobalt-and-yellow sunshine piece is fantastic, and I love the softer pink floral shard beside it.

Big aqua, ice blue, cobalt AND pottery in one hunt? I’ll take it! 😍

Another day, another haul from the Caribbean. 🌊

Today was definitely a chunky kind of day! 💚 Loads of beautifully tumbled greens and aquas, a piece of milk glass, pottery, and a few tiny cornflower blues that already have us thinking earrings. 💙

We’ve also tucked a couple of suspicious-looking pieces aside for a UV check when we get home — unfortunately, the black light didn’t make the packing list this trip. 😂

And then there’s that spectacular chunk of tempered glass — a glimpse at where our Caribbean Ice Earrings™ begin. Over years of turbulence and tumbling, pieces like this break apart and the individual little chunks become beautifully softened by the sea before we find them.

But perhaps today’s most entertaining treasure is quite possibly the haggiest hag stone we have EVER found. 😂 That poor thing has been worked over by the Caribbean!

These are the days we love — you never know what will be waiting beneath the water. And some of these treasures may just find their way into new By The Sea SXM creations once we’re back in the studio. 🩵

First day back in the water and the Caribbean did NOT disappoint! 🌊💚

A beautiful mix of genuine sea glass, pottery and a few other little treasures came home with us today — including an irresistible little iridescent button that somehow makes me ridiculously happy. ✨

And yes… a few of these finds may just make their way into our Etsy boutique once we’re back and creating again. 😉 (closed until September 1st)

But the find of the day has to be THAT TEAL! 😍 Just look at the size of that gorgeous chunk.
