Bracing, tension, and hyper-vigilance are physical postures held over time. Expressive art-making gently uncoils that bracing, bringing movement back to frozen states. 🌊🪵

🌀Another portal process painting. This is about processing grief.

🌊Around seeing the way grief flows like water, changing the rocks and soil in its path, moving mountains into caves.

🪞My grief is a portal, never ending, a beginning and end, the deepest magic the soul can offer.

I used to look outside myself for permission to exist, to heal, and to take up space. Writing the final section of Skeletons, Sequins, and Kin was my way of realizing that every scar I carry is a love letter telling me I made it through.

I tape my own photo to the fridge now so I remember the permission has already been given. I am becoming my own ancestor.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and holding space for these pages.

May your light keep spilling out. 🪴🕯️👑

The parts of yourself you try to hide were created to protect you during times of stress. Thank them for their service as you gently guide them into balance. 🌑🕯️

🔮Excerpt from Hex & Flesh:

"We do not alter the body by forcing compliance; we alter our relationship by giving its unspoken stories shape."

A reminder for when physical form feels heavy or when the external world asks you to shrink. Let your unspoken stories take up space today. 📖🥀

It took me years to sharpen my name until every letter fit cleanly in my mouth.

So when someone tries to force me back into an old label, I don't apologize for the edge.

My Name is a Blade You Can't Unlearn is about the fierce protection we owe to our own identities.

Your name is a tool you built with your own hands; carry it carefully, and never dull it for someone else's comfort. 🗡️🖤✨

A foundational principle of somatic expressive arts: moving away from diagnostic surveillance and toward embodied safety, autonomy, and creative agency. 🌿🖤

When I started putting Skeletons, Sequins, and Kin together, I had to look closely at how my own body learned its shape, not through the binary boxes I was given, but through bruises, glitter, and the quiet refusal to fit someone else’s cursive.

I wrote Birth Certificate in Someone Else's Handwriting because my birth document always felt like a verdict I never agreed to.

So I annotated the margins and signed my name in the grammar of now. What is a rule or label you’ve outgrown and rewritten for yourself?

Let’s talk in the comments. ✒️✨🩸

Autoethnographic research shows that intentional mark-making, whether paint, collage, or ink, re-establishes internal locus of control after trauma or systemic erasure. 🪶✨
