Sometimes even I feel like I sound like an old record when I speak of EMPOWERED but how lucky am I that there is still interest and that the series still gets recognized?

Well, we here at MWE certainly feel grateful. At the beginning of the year the series was recognized by getting nominated for the Global Production Award and as we are nearing the end of the year, the series is being screened once more, in the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. For those who cannot be with us in person, we are offering the series for just $4.99 on our website. By signing up and becoming an MWE member, you will have access to the whole series for a whole year. For more information, go to: https://www.mirrorwaterentertainment.com/pricing-plans/list

We have started production on a new documentary called “The Lost Voice” about the search of the truth about my great-grand aunt Pola. I will go as deep as I can in telling this story and what it means to me personally. It touches upon some of the hardest moments she has had to face in life and how it all connects to me as a filmmaker. While it’s a story about German Film History and the history of the Amazon during the 1920s I have not gotten the support of either Germany or Brazil to tell this story. However, seeing of how important it is, I’ve dedicated all of my own resources in making this happen. If I shall fail in making this project then I have failed trying. This film is in many ways a lifeline for me. If you want to join us on the journey, then please follow us . I will not be posting much on this account. Many thanks and I hope you will enjoy the ride.

🎬 NEW DOCUMENTARY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Lost Voice — A journey into the past that reshapes the future of filmmaking.

Filmmaker Christina Rose sets out to uncover the mysterious legacy of her great-grand aunt Pola Brückner (Pola Bauer-Adamara), believed to be the first female filmmaker in the Amazon. What begins as a search for lost footage and family history transforms into a powerful exploration of identity, truth, and purpose across generations.

From Berlin archives to the depths of the Amazon River, Christina retraces Pola’s 1929 expedition—uncovering secrets, confronting uncomfortable truths, and discovering unexpected parallels between their lives as women behind the camera.

🎥 A story of legacy, resilience, and reclaiming lost voices.

On April 1st, 2025, we will witness a historic moment as Rabea Rogge will become the first German women to travel to space. It will have taken 62 years that the first German woman will fly into space. But there are many other women before Rabea Rogge who made this day possible. I have had the fortune to meet one of these women and feature her in an episode in our documentary series EMPOWERED: Suzanna Randall. In order to understand this historic moment, we are offering the episode “The Climb” about Suzanna for free for one week on our website.

Since 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees all American women the right to vote and legally recognizes women as equal citizens. Today, the US celebrates Women’s Equality Day.

Unfortunately, as we are reminded every year, we still have a long way to go

I was listening to Fail Better. Last weeks interview featured Kathleen Hanna . She was sharing this interesting story about the Spice Girls … She talks about how she was watching a friends Kid of hers coming up with these dance moves to one of the Spice Girls song and Kathleen says to herself “stop being such a snob, if I was a Kid and I had this, it’s better than the Red Hot Chili Peppers, you know what I’m saying, this Kid isn’t listening to music that she’s a s*x doll, she’s listening to music as she hangs out with her friends.”

Which brings me to Adele : the same day, I was listening to the podcast, at Munich Night 8, Adele talks about how when she grew up, she adored the Spice Girls and how inspiring they were to her. Adele’s voice is beyond powerful and beautiful and she transcends to a whole new world and takes the audience on an emotional journal that cannot be expressed in words.

My point being is: representation matters.

Back in 2018, when we decided to make the documentary series EMPOWERED, that was the whole goal.

I can tell you, it’s been a real struggle getting this series on the air because I’ve been told: these women aren’t famous enough, aren’t interesting enough, aren’t something enough. WTF?!?!?

Today, it’s not just about celebrating this day but it’s more about recognising the impact of equality can have in our society, no matter how famous you are or not! Representation matters. PERIOD.

One thing’s for sure....if there wasn’t a Kathleen Hanna, there might not have been the Spice Girls, and if it weren’t for the Spice Girls, we might not have Adele...and I sure cannot wait to see who’s on the horizon to change this world.

Be bold, be empowered.

PS: Thanks Adele for looking right into the camera and singing with your heart and soul.
