Season's Greetings from Quotidian Theatre!

At this festive time of year, we thought you might enjoy revisiting a few Christmas' past from QTC's "The Seafarer" by Conor McPherson, "Valentine's Day" by Horton Foote, and the musical of "James Joyce's The Dead." We wish all our patrons, theatre friends, and donors a joyous holiday. Bless you for your support!

QTC Mourns the Passing of Director/Actor Norman Seltzer Who Directed QTC's "All My Sons"

Our acting community of greater D.C. lost one of its prominent directors and actors with the death of Norman Seltzer on October 12th at the age of 94. Most of us worked with him for years in "Polici v.Clark" at Georgetown Law.

Norm was one of the keystones of Silver Spring Stage for over two decades. He directed its magnificent “Marvin’s Room” which captured four Outstanding nominations, including one for his direction. Over the years, he directed or took significant roles every season at this Maryland theatre.

He also directed and took major roles at Quotidian Theatre in Bethesda. There he directed “All My Sons”, a spectacular performance which The Washington Examiner termed “flawless.” https://quotidiantheatre.org/archives/all-my-sons/ Norm also played major roles in other Quotidian classic plays, including the role of Sorin in “The Sea Gull” in which both the drama and Norm’s performance were praised by The City Paper.

Norm cast several of us as role-players to portray scientists, inventors, and discoverers in the National Science Fair held at the Washington Convention Center. In his later years he was hired as a role player for various legal NITA exercises, including ones at local law schools, continuing these assignments until he was into his 90’s. This remarkable and generous man will certainly be missed in our acting co mmunity.

You can also post your memories of Norm at the web site of the funeral home:

Best SM EVER! Doug Maryott! Thank you!

QTC is blessed to have Doug Maryott, whose home venue is the Victorian Lyric Opera Company, serving as its stage manager for "The Day Emily Married." Easy-going, intelligent, anticipating every need, reliable and more, QTC couldn't have found a better person to manage rehearsals and the chaos backstage during performances. And he even bakes the most delicious cakes to celebrate cast members' birthdays. We couldn't recommend him more if you are searching for the perfect SM! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Doug!

Bless You BWW.com's Andrew White for Your Beautifully Penned Review of QTC's "The Day Emily Married"!

"The Day Emily Married is unforgettable-as a play, for its indelibly-written characters, and as a Quotidian production, it is a beautiful swan song for one of the rare gems of the Washington Theatre scene." -- Andrew White, BWW.com Reviewer

Bethesda's own Quotidian Theatre, which has been a true labor of love and art, after nearly 25 years on the D.C. theatre scene, is making an appropriately subtle, and grand, exit. Horton Foote's intensely psychological drama, The Day Emily Married, is a piece that Artistic Director Jack Sbarbori fam...
