IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SALON PROFESSIONALS PLEASE READ!!!!
I would like to share with Rothschild Studio clients and all the many women we call our salon family and friends my outlook and perspective through Covid. Additionally, I would like to share where we stand on eventual opening.
Covid has been a stressful and destructive beast which has wreaked havoc on our spirits, our mental health, our children's happiness, friendships, milestones, and celebrations. It has given many time to step back and reassess priorities in their own lives. It has been a time to realize that despite what we feel we may be cheated out of, sad for the loss of, or missing out on, there is the most important realization that we all hopefully share. Hopefully, we share that we are trying to keep people healthy, who may otherwise not be if exposed to the virus.
Can we also share the common experience that this time has given us? It has given us a shared sense of community, and cause. It has given us time to wake up with our families, have meals with our families, and go to bed with our families. It has given husbands and wives time to talk about the stuff that goes unspoken. It has also opened people's eyes to what is and always has been around them...good and the bad. Reassess...Reevalueate...Reprioritize...because the most important thing in all this...THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN ALL THIS...is that all of us have our health. There is absolutely nothing without it.
So when I (or any of my stylists) receive a text or an email that says 'Can I do hair?'...no. The answer is no. I love my job and my clients more than anything. Let's all agree though, that I am focusing on my health and my families health just as much as you are yours. It is believed that up to 35% of all positively tested people were asymptomatic. So when you tell me not to worry, "I'm healthy"...I will worry. I will worry because I cannot see this virus or identify who has it. Do you know who is at high risk, just by looking at them?
I want to tell you all that I am a person at high risk and you would never know just by looking at me. There are many people who have immune disorders and diseases that would take over their lives and their ability to function if not for the immunosuppressive drugs they take. So those of you who know people with arthritis, they likely are on an immune suppressive to keep their debilitating symptoms in remission. They walk around looking healthy and feeling good because they are on a drug that keeps their immune system from systematically attacking all of the joints and joint tissue in their body. You cannot see this. People who have Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis also take the same immune suppressive drugs so that their immune system does not attack their colon, large intestine, small intestine, or esophagus. People who have psoriasis also will take a similar drug. So please be considerate of your ask. I have been humbled to my knees years ago, almost wholy brought down by ulcerative colitis. Having become almost completely housebound and unable to work, barely able to take care of my own children. I regained my life with an immune suppressive drug and have been in remission for 10 years and have been allowed to live my life fully and with passion. I am hoping that Covid is not the next thing that brings me to my knees, but if it does, I am prepared. All I ask is that you respect everyones health and make no assumptions that everyone feels the same as you do or has the same health situation as you. Covid does not discriminate who it will choose to infect.
We cannot open or serve our clients until the state allows. Even when we enter the yellow phase in Chester County, Wolf has already announced that he is not going to allow salons, barber shops, nail salons, spas, or gyms to open. This would mean that he is not going to open these personal service businesses until the green phase. I have no idea when that is. I wish that I had a crystal ball to tell me when that would be. He and other states are determining when the phases begin according to benchmarks that show specific ratios of Covid cases as it relates to area populations. Know that when we do open, we will be implementing all sanitation and professional practices to best protect the health of our employees and our clients. We will do what is required and more. I wish there was something that I could do for all of you. There is only one of me and I too am home schooling my kids and taking care of my family while also ensuring my employees are okay. I continue to be happy to offer advice and answer questions and give guidance, but that is all any of us can do. Please do not put me or my stylists in a position to have to defend our boundaries and our health. It makes us feel so badly. We just hope for you to understand that we are all in this together. No one has cut or colored my hair either. We are all our own best kitchen barbers and stylists. Although it makes us feel great to have good hair, it is just that...hair. Hang in there! Love to you all!
