Joe we will Miss You at Berwick Riverfest
So sorry for your loss

Joseph L. “Pierogie Joe” Stanavage Sr., 76, of Hazleton passed away on Thursday, December 4 at his home. He was the founder and operator of Joe’s Homemade Pierogies and was known to many as the Candyman and Mr. Softee.

A Hazleton native, Joe was a longtime employee at the former Bemis Company and a familiar face at local fairs and festivals. He loved making pierogies and donuts, traveling with his wife, especially to Disney, and connecting with the community. He was a member of the Hazle Azalea Fellowship Lodge #327, Scottish Rite Valley of Bloomsburg, and the Hazleton Area JC’s.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Eloise, sons Joseph and John (with wife Sara), sister Pat, five grandchildren, and niece Lisa. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ed.

Friends may call Friday, December 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Joseph B. Conahan Funeral Home, 532 North Vine Street, Hazleton. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Services for Sight, 4 Brookhill Road, Sugarloaf PA 18249.

can anyone help?
---Hello-I’m looking for a vendor that was at river fest. One of my students got a black cup with ghosts on it, purple straw. I’m pretty sure it was glass. She dropped it today and it shattered-she was heartbroken. I’d like to try and get her a new one-any help is appreciated
