“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” — Psalm 139:14

Tattoo artists spend a lot of time studying the human body—how artwork flows with an arm, follows a shoulder, wraps around a forearm or complements someone's natural shape.

And the more you think about it, the human body itself is an incredible piece of design.

Long before any ink touches skin, God's artistry is already there.

Every person who walks through my door was fearfully and wonderfully made.

My job is simply to create something that honors the canvas I’ve been trusted with.

“Love You More” — In Her Own Handwriting

This is why I always tell people that meaningful tattoos don't have to be complicated.

Those words aren't a font.

They're Grandma's actual handwriting.
Love you more.

We paired them with cowboy boots and flowers that brought back memories of her grandmother, creating something completely personal to her.

There is something incredibly special about preserving someone's handwriting in a tattoo. The little imperfections are actually what make it perfect—because that's how they wrote it.

A few handwritten words can become something priceless when you can no longer hear the person who used to say them.

This is the kind of tattoo I feel especially privileged to create.

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…” — Ephesians 2:10

As an artist, I love this picture.

Before I ever create anything, I am already looking at something God created.

Every person who sits in my chair has been uniquely made, with their own personality, experiences, purpose and story.

The artwork I add is only decoration on something God designed first.

That gives the word Designs in Freedom Designs an entirely different meaning to me.

We aren't accidents.

We are His workmanship.

We the People — What Matters to You
The other side of this client's chest tells another part of who he is.
After using one side to represent his faith, he wanted the opposite side to represent his love for his country.
“We the People.”
An American flag, the Thin Blue Line, and words that have represented the foundation of our Constitution for more than two centuries.

One of my favorite things about tattooing is that everyone's canvas tells a different story. Faith. Family. Country. Home. Memories. Milestones.

The things that matter to us become pieces of the story we choose to carry.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36

There are plenty of things in life that promise freedom.

But the freedom Jesus gives is different.

It's the kind that can change how we see our past, our mistakes, our identity and our future.

Some tattoos mark chapters we never want to forget. Others help us reclaim something after a difficult season. Some simply celebrate the people, places and things God has given us to love.

Whatever story brings someone into my chair, I’m reminded that our stories don't have to end where they started.

In Christ, we can be free indeed.

Tattoos Are Better Together
Some tattoo appointments turn into a whole event—and I'm absolutely here for it.

Friends. Sisters. Mothers and daughters. Girls' weekends. Celebrations.

I've had groups come in for tiny matching symbols, friendship designs, cactuses, turtles and those wonderfully tiny finger tattoos.

Sometimes everyone gets the exact same thing.
Sometimes everyone chooses their own variation.

Either way, the tattoo becomes more than ink—it becomes a memory of something you did together.

So yes, Freedom Designs is absolutely open to group tattoo appointments.

Bring your people. Bring your ideas. We'll figure out the rest. 🤍

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17

This verse captures something I want people to feel when they walk into Freedom Designs.

Yes, this is a tattoo studio—but I want it to be a place where my faith is welcome, Christian music can play, conversations can go deeper than surface level, and people can simply be themselves.

I don't need every tattoo to be a faith tattoo or every conversation to become a spiritual one.

I just want to create in a space where God is welcome.

Because where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Three Nails— Wearing His Faith
For some people, a tattoo is an opportunity to quietly carry something they believe.
For others, it's an opportunity to boldly proclaim it.
This client wanted the three nails on his chest as an expression of his faith and a reminder of the message of John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…”
The nails represent Jesus's sacrifice on the cross—the moment at the center of the Gospel story.
I love getting to create pieces that mean far more to someone than the image you see on the surface.
Sometimes ink becomes testimony.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” — Galatians 5:1

There’s more behind the name Freedom Designs than tattoos and artwork.

Freedom is one of the greatest gifts we receive through Christ. Freedom from our past. Freedom from shame. Freedom from believing that who we were has to define who we become.

Tattooing is an art form, but I also get to hear people’s stories—stories of faith, loss, healing, milestones, family and new beginnings.

That makes this verse a beautiful reminder of what the word Freedom means to me.

Texas — It's Never Too Late for Your First Tattoo
Almost 60 years in the making. 🤍
This gentleman had waited nearly six decades to get his very first tattoo. When he finally decided it was time, he knew exactly what he wanted it to represent—his pride in his Texas roots.
We created this Texas piece incorporating the state seal, giving him something that wasn't simply his first tattoo, but something that represented home.
I love being part of first tattoos at any age. There isn't an expiration date on deciding that something means enough to you to put it into ink.
Sometimes you just have to wait 60 years to be sure. 😉
