Hey all, I'm looking for advice/suggestions. I am taking a group of students for my bi-annual NYC Music and Arts trip this summer. It is always a great trip and I know that if I had done something like that it would have really influenced the choices I made about my future and career. I have two boys, twins, that are some of the best music students I've had in a really long time. One of them has pretty much kept the orchestra program at my school alive. He has been conducting the class in the absence of my past co-worker last spring and current co-worker this fall. I've never seen a 7th/8th grade boy with that level of maturity and dedication. the other is one of my best band students. These boys came to the trip meeting, but I know that they are not going because of the expense. Does anyone know of a way I could possibly come up with the funds to help them go? Are there grants or scholarships out there I could seek? Anyone got a spare kidney I can sell?

The cost per student is $2580. I've attached my company Venmo account, if anyone is interested they can donate there. If for some reason it doesn't work out I'll just refund everyone's donations from there.

Sound peoples: I've gotten pretty frustrated with trying to get on-stage monitoring dialed in. I feel really confident with front of house and usually have that sounding great. The problem I have is that each group I work with has different levels of people either playing too loud or having amps too loud (drummers and guitar players) and that sets the baseline for how loud the monitors have to be. I always feel like that jacks up the stage sound and starts the volume cold wars that end up blowing the vocalists voice and horn players chops. A few of the people I work with have moved on to in-ear monitors and it has been both a game changer for them and for me. It lowers the stage volume and allows the performers to hear what they want and themselves much better. Plus the wireless systems make it so that they can move around without fear of feeding back from the floor wedges.

So my question: I feel like it may be worth investing in some in-ear monitor systems to make available for the groups I work with. I'm thinking that it would be fair to ask that they provide their own headphones, as that can be a pretty personal preference and using headphones that someone else has used.....gross. I've had good luck with some specific brands, but I'm finding that the limiting factor is how many channels are available for most of them. For example, I've worked with the ones below but there are only 6 channels. So if there was an 8 piece band, some people would have to double up. My mixer has 14 aux outs, so I find that pretty limiting. Has anyone found a system that allows for multiple channels without having to double, or do we just count on horns/percussion/vocalists all sharing the same mix?

Hey! Road Runner Productions (Jay) is needing help running sound for two stages this Saturday for the Longmont Art Walk. There were some unexpected situations come up and I've found myself short handed. The whole event will be from 1-9pm, but I could get by with someone helping run the mixer from 6-8. I'll pay for the time/work and maybe buy you a hotdog if I'm feeling generous.

We are so excited to have Jay and his crew from Road Runner Audio providing sound for us at Bootstrap Brewing Company on Saturday, August 13th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. These guys did an incredible job for us at the Rooftop Rodeo and they are going to blow you away with the best sound at Bootsrap. See you all there next month

We had the opportunity to teach a week long Rock Camp at Mojo's Music Academy. A very talented group of kids, and they pulled off some really hard songs! They did a great job. Here is the final concert, check them out!
