Eduard 1/48 P-51D DONE!

completed in the marking of 414 292 "Man O War" (N44727). This was the Eduard Mighty Eighth Kit with lifelike aftermarket decals.

The lifelike decals were a pain to deal with on this one, after putting them on the aircraft, after a couple of days they started lifting off....Even though I put solvaset etc on them like normal....

I had to use some Tamiya Extra Thin (did you know you could use that sparingly as a decal adhesive?) and snuggle them down really good and then clear coat the model. One of the stars and bars got destroyed and I had to replace with an eduard one from the box. All in all came out really nice!

As usual painted with MRP Laquers Super Silver both versions, white Aluminum, Steel, Olive Drab, the Semi Gloss and Gloss Clears...Dark Green RAF for the stripes and zinc chromate yellow.

No weathering on this one...just straight paint and decals. Enjoy.

A little weekend fun painting up some subjects from my new resin printer :)

As you may have seen previously I printed this timberwolf and was going to do it in a diorama....but I kinda just painted it and want to display it on my shelf...going to build up a collection of the battletech mechs.

This is a clan mech but i decided to do a what if "Death Squad" brawler timber wolf serving in the U.S Army in the far far future sometime in the 31st century.

This guy is packing an LRM 15, 3 x ER-PPC's, 3x Clan AC/5's and 3 Light lasers....kind of a silly build because its over the tonnage of a 75 tonner mech but i thought it looked badass :)

I painted this with MRP Laquer Olive Drab and NATO Black as the camo....and then did edge highlighting, shading and brush painting with Vallejo acrylics. Also used some Warhammer nuln oil and agrath earth shade to get into the crevices. Decals just came from my spares box from a bunch of WWII Shermans :)

When your Monday is made because you stumble on a treasure trove of Battletech STL files....Printer working overtime lol....

Ever since i got into BattleTech in the 90's I have always wanted to have a collection of the mech's to just display......what a treat! And it has them in all different scales....this one is a 1/100 at a whopping 19cm tall...chonky boy! An Atlas in 1/100 would be close to 29cm tall.

And who knows, maybe one of these bad boys faces off against my German tank column :D will see what develops.

by the way, this Saturn 4 Ultra is insanely cool....combined with the Elegoo satelite slicing app which is totally free...I have been printing all weekend and haven't had an issue at all.

First print on the 3D printer is a little 1/100 scale tiger 2….straight out of the box no settings changed…lovely machine.

I’m going to do a bunch of these and make a diorama with some science fiction elements to it…robots from the future and what not who knows the world is my oyster lol.

Here we goooo! I’m late to the game, but now I’m playing! No more dealing with rubbish ordinance on kits, or having to buy random figures off of eBay, etc etc now I just make em myself!

I’m sure a bunch of you have dabbled in 3D printing for awhile, so feel free to shoot over any tips or tricks….but I’m super excited and I already have a diorama in mind with some STL files I have been eyeing out!

✈️ Something a little different is coming…

UMa Model is releasing a new 1/72 J-35 China 5th-Gen Fighter Twin Pack, and I’m looking at bringing some into Carpet Monster Hobbies.

This one is pretty interesting because the box includes both versions:

• PLAAF J-35A – land-based version
• PLAN J-35 – carrier-based naval version

So instead of choosing between the two, you get both in the same box.

If UMa sounds familiar, they’re the same company behind the excellent 1/48 Harrier kits, so this is definitely one I’m curious to get my hands on.

The kit also comes with some nice extras right in the box, including:

• 3D Cockpit decals
• Masking sheet
• Diorama base paper

It should make for a really cool pair of builds, especially if you’re looking for something a little more unusual than the usual F-14, F-16, F-18 or F-35 sitting on the shelf.
