We're proud to call the Elmwood home. 🏡🎭

7x7 just published a guide to Berkeley's oldest commercial district where the historic Julia Morgan Theater is located.

For nearly 20 years we've been making musicals at the north end of College Avenue, and much of what makes a night at Berkeley Playhouse special happens before the show starts and after it comes ends. It's a stroll past century-old shingle houses. It's a browse through a bookstore or stationer that's been there for decades. It's a scoop of ice cream on the walk back to the car.

Coming to a show this season? Come early. Pick up a gift at Bill's Trading Post (the neighborhood's oldest business, since 1939). Test-drive a pen at Elmwood Stationers. Lose an hour at Mrs. Dalloway's Bookstore. Grab dinner around the corner from us at Donato & Co., then end the night at Casa de Chocolates. Grab a glass of w**e at Book Society.

Support the small businesses that make this neighborhood worth the trip. 👇

Bill's Trading Post (2943 College Ave.), established in 1939, is the neighborhood's oldest business and the first trading post in the Bay Area. To this day, you can pop into Bill's and find the turquoise necklace of your dreams. Much of the jewelry and art are created by Native American artists. //....

We are proud to share that Berkeley Playhouse's production of LEGALLY BLONDE has received the Open Doors achievement from Theatre Bay Area.

Our production has taken tangible, intentional steps to increase access for our audiences. This includes our value seat program, our audio described performances, and our ASL interpreted shows.

Our audience and the press are LOVING our show. Come see it before it closes. Now playing through October 18. Tickets at berkeleyplayhouse.org.

From Berkeleyside: "“If you loved this movie in 2001, I promise it’s even more fun with a live band and an audience,” said Kimberly Dooley, artistic director of Berkeley Playhouse. “The show moves at a whip-fast pace and is full of laughs and seriously impressive dance and vocals. ‘Legally Blonde’ defies stereotypes and celebrates female teamwork, empowerment and, above all else, authenticity.”"

The musical version of the comedy got seven Tony nominations and London's Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
