As we wrap up our spring semester here at Berkeley, we want to turn back the clock to the most heart-warming weekend we had in April.

In April of this year, we hosted our 13th annual Pursuit of Higher Education conference. Although the weather was not on our side with heavy rain, we found a fire within our community. It was truly an unforgettable experience for us all. This year, our theme was “Txhawb Nqa: Uplifting Our Community Through Higher Education.” The weekend gave our mentees new insights into Higher Education and what it means to create change in the Hmong community.

We want to give a huge thank you to all our donors, volunteers, and workshop facilitators who made PoHE 2026 a dream come true. Thank you all for your generosity and support. Lastly, thank you to our PoHE 2026 mentees for bringing us laughter and hope for the future.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

With love and community,
The 2026 Pursuit of Higher Education Family.

Hello HSAB Community!

We are 2 week away from PoHE 2026! We are so excited and hope that you all are excited as well.

To spread the joy of PoHE to our cohort this year we are asking for minimal donations from our community. These donations will be used to purchase materials for our workshops, gift items for our mentees and volunteers, and also be used to purchase food to sustain everyone during the 3 day weekend. If you or someone you know would like to donate, please scan the QR code below or use our PoHE Finance Coordinator's, Allan Vang, Venmo account listed below.

Any donation is appreciated and we are truly so grateful to have your support. 🫶

With love and community,
The Pursuit of Higher Education Committee '25-'26 ❤️

PoHe is back for the upcoming Spring season!

The PoHe committee is so excited to be back, and we can’t wait to get this train going. PoHe’s focus this year is to foster a safe space for students to explore higher education, while also providing alternative pathways in their journeys. With that, another goal for this year’s PoHe is to create a community that supports one another even after our four-day program. The four-day and two-night experience is filled with educational and community-bonding workshops to give Hmong-identifying high school students an outlet outside of their personal lives. This year, we are looking for Hmong-identifying students from Northern and Central parts of California. The program is all expenses paid for and will take place on April 9-12, 2025, with one virtual day and three in-person days. PoHe will push students with a new kind of motivation to open doors for future generations.

This year’s theme is: “Txhawb Nqa: Uplifting Our Community Through Higher Education.” In honor of HSAB’s mentorship program, we are reusing the name to revive it. This year’s theme takes a deeper look into our Hmong heritage and stories. Our stories are passed down from one generation to the next and continue to affect us in an ever-changing modern society. Although higher education is one pathway, we will also highlight other avenues, such as trade schools, community colleges, and more. In an effort to support the Hmong community, no matter which path you take.

With community,
The PoHe Committee
