A show-stopping moment from our YMCO Goes to the Movies concert! 🎶

Our R&B Combo lit up the stage with an electrifying medley from The Wiz, arranged by none other than YMCO alumna Nimah Rowden.

At just 21 years old, Nimah continues to inspire the next generation of musicians- not only as a talented performer, but as an arranger and mentor. We are so proud to see our alumni giving back and shaping the future of YMCO.

Bravo to our incredible R&B Combo for bringing so much energy, soul, and musicianship to this unforgettable performance! 💛🎶

What an amazing way to wrap up our 2026 YMCO Summer Institute! 🎬🎶

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s final Summer Institute concert, YMCO Goes to the Movies. Your tremendous support, encouragement, and roaring mom applause mean the world to our young musicians.

To our incredible students- thank you for six weeks of dedication, hard work, and unforgettable memories. To our faculty, staff, volunteers, families, and donors- thank you for making this summer possible. This program wouldn’t exist without your unwavering commitment and generosity.

Congratulations to all of our performers on an amazing summer, and thank you for celebrating this special evening with us. We can’t wait to see you again in the Fall! 💙🎻🎤🎺

A heartfelt thank you to Dean Daniel Washington for spending the past week with our YMCO students and sharing his incredible knowledge, artistry, and passion for music.

Today, our vocal students had the privilege of learning from him during an inspiring master class filled with invaluable insights, encouragement, and musical excellence. As an internationally acclaimed bass-baritone, educator, and mentor, Dean Washington has inspired singers around the world, and we are so grateful he chose to invest his time in our young artists.

Spirit Week kept the fun going with Twin Day / Dynamic Duo Day! From matching outfits to iconic pairings, our students and staff showed up with plenty of creativity and team spirit.

Music is always better together and yesterday was a great reminder of that. 🎶💙
