We’re heading to INTEGRATE 2026 in Sydney, Australia, September 2–4. Join Jands and Meyer Sound at the show for a hands-on look at the latest solutions for installed sound, with a presentation and listening demo experiences designed to bring you up to speed on the Meyer Sound ecosystem. Introducing the latest edition of our “People Behind the Product” series, where we celebrate the incredible individuals who make up our diverse team worldwide. We are thrilled to introduce Doc Singles, Quality Inspection Supervisor.

Doc Singles plays a vital role as our Quality Inspection Supervisor at Meyer Sound, ensuring every component meets our exacting standards for quality, accuracy, and performance. His attention to detail and commitment to consistency help maintain the precision and reliability our users expect from every system we build.

To get to know Doc better, we asked him a few questions about his work at Meyer Sound and life beyond the office.

Question: What is your favorite Meyer Sound memory?

Answer: The 2017 Meyer Sound Holiday party was held at the Chabot Space & Science Center, and for me, it was the best company party ever! Food, drinks, telescopes, and a planetarium? Seriously, try to top that!

Q: What was your first job?

A: Stuffing flyers under windshield wipers for $3.35/hour. Yeah, sorry about that.

Q: What book is on your bedside table?

A: The Lord of the Rings. They call it the greatest book of the 20th century, but I think they’re underselling it. I read it about once a year. Whenever you find yourself in a moral quandary, simply ask yourself: ‘What would Faramir do?’

Q: What is an achievement you are proud of?

A: I put in some serious study time to become an ASQ Certified Quality Technician. In matters of Quality, I’m now officially infallible. Or at least certified.

Q: Dogs or cats? Do you have any pets?

A: Dogs are the best of us, but I have a cat.

Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

A: I play bass in Alternative Ending, your favorite Bay Area 90s rock tribute band!

A memorable afternoon of deep listening at Grace Cathedral, in San Francisco!

We were thrilled to welcome members of the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy’s Producers & Engineers Wing for a behind-the-scenes exploration of pioneering sound artist Bill Fontana’s Resonance, joined by Fontana and our very own Spatial & Digital Audio Specialist, Leonard Blanche.

Sound designers, composers, engineers, and producers experienced the site-specific installation and heard how vibration sensors on the cathedral’s bells and microphones inside organ pipes reveal normally hidden sounds through a Meyer Sound spatial audio system.

Fontana also shared recordings from several of his other works, including an installation at Notre-Dame and recordings from inside the mechanism of Big Ben.

Thank you to Bill Fontana, Grace Cathedral, and the Recording Academy P&E community for such a thoughtful and inspiring exchange.
