A special evening at David Geffen Hall as we celebrated the arrival of Gustavo Dudamel as the Tang Music & Artistic Director of the New York Philharmonic.

Meyer Sound founders John and Helen Meyer were in attendance for the Gustavo Dudamel’s Inaugural Gala with the New York Philharmonic, marking an exciting moment for a venue that has recently become our Official Sound Partner.

Earlier this year, David Geffen Hall became the world’s first concert hall to order TIGRA, our newest line array platform. Designed to deliver a consistent experience from the orchestra to the upper tiers, the new system brings our latest loudspeaker technology to one of New York City’s most iconic stages.

It was a pleasure to celebrate this milestone alongside the New York Philharmonic and the many artists, leaders, and supporters gathered at David Geffen Hall for this special occasion.

Rock the Locks Music Festival featured systems supplied by our rental partner, Production Services International, built for consistent coverage, clarity, and powerful low-end performance.

The main stage and second stage were supported by PANTHER line arrays paired with 2100-LFC, the for delivering clarity, headroom, and controlled low-frequency performance across the audience.

The deployment also included our ULTRA family of point source loudspeakers, including ULTRA-X80 and ULTRA-X40, with additional support from MJF-10, 210, and MJF-208 loudspeakers.

Thanks to PSI and the entire production team for putting these systems to work at Rock the Locks.

We welcomed members of Sony and the San Francisco chapter of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) to the Pearson Theatre at Meyer Sound’s Berkeley headquarters for a special evening celebrating CIANI/ORKEST—a landmark concert film and live quadraphonic album pairing electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani with the 50-piece Metropole Orkest. The film was presented in Sony’s 360 Reality Audio (360RA) immersive audio experience, giving guests the opportunity to experience the performance through Sony’s spatial audio technology.

Following the screening, Ciani joined us in person for a magical conversation and Q&A about the performance and her pioneering work in electronic and quadraphonic sound. A sound designer, composer, and record label executive, Ciani has been creating innovative electronic music and sound for film and television since the 1970s.

Guests also had the unique opportunity to experience Sony’s 360 Virtual Mixing Environment (360VME), including personalized binaural calibrations in the Pearson Theatre.

The special evening brought together artists, engineers, technologists, and audio professionals for an exploration of sound—from the artistry of CIANI/ORKEST to emerging possibilities in spatial audio.

On a single night at National Sawdust, a program might feature eight composers with eight sonic setups, each asking something different of the room. One piece might send playback tracks moving around the audience; the next might call for the spacious acoustic of a cathedral; the one after that a tight, controlled room for a rock band.

This summer, the Brooklyn venue upgraded the Meyer Sound Constellation system behind those shifts, moving from D-Mitri to NADIA processing and adding a Galileo GALAXY 816 Network Platform as part of a renewed partnership. “When we released NADIA, we said, National Sawdust is our benchmark venue for spatial audio integrated with active acoustics,” says Meyer Sound’s Director, Spatial Sound, Steve Ellison. “They need to be on our benchmark platform.”
