Musicians around the world are really suffering right now financially because of cancelled tours due to COVID-19. They don’t make any money off record sales because of the rigged system towards the top (except for Beyoncé I guess) :/
I don’t know what might happen to the music scene if it doesn’t get some help. Musicians may have to give up and get day jobs which they may not come back from. Or worse. Art depends on communities to move forward, artists are informed and inspired by each other and it creates this collective creation. Every famous artist was inspired by a whole bunch of other artists. But this collective is at a breaking point right now and it really worries me.
Keeping the creative musical community intact is so important not just for the health and livelihood of musicians around the world but also for the future of vibrant musical communities that foster the creative music that we love.
Spotify has launched an ambitious and inspiring initiative to bring people together to donate to a variety of organizations around the world who help musicians in need.
Here’s a link: https://covid19musicrelief.byspotify.com/en-us
From Spotify’s page:
“Today we launched the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief project, which recommends verified organizations that offer financial relief to those in the music community most in need around the world. Currently, we're partnering with MusiCares, PRS Foundation, Help Musicians, Unison Benevolent Fund, and Centre National de la Musique, and are looking forward to adding more partners worldwide. Spotify is making a donation to these organizations and will match donations made via the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief page dollar-for-dollar up to a total Spotify contribution of $10 million.”
Let’s make them fork up that 10 million!!!
Here’s also a direct link to the USA based Musicares paypal donate page in case you’re PayPal only. The other link is better though because it’s matched $ for $ by Spotify and is global but it’s Credit/Debit card only. I want to make sure people who are PayPal only have a way to donate. It will still help musicians and is still a wonderful act of compassion.

I hope you’re able to give what you can. I gave more than is practical for me right now. And share this with everyone you can. That will make a difference too!
Much love to all of you.
