Join activist rock band NOW THE CHANGES and chamber sludge ensemble SAPPHIRE LUNG for an evening of music and community. The event is hosted by Joe Markert and the team at GroundControl, 2233 Fifth St., Berkeley, CA, 94710.

Their material combines driving rhythms with experimental impulses in an effort to activate righteous energies, open up new perspectives, and help catalyze the needed transformation....

SAPPHIRE LUNG will perform a cluster of compositions by Dani Robison, reflecting the struggle for breath and survival under late capitalism. The unorthodox quintet (bassoon, sax, violin, percussion, and upright bass) explores soundscapes alternately bleak, sentimental, and cacophonous.
