Mi Vida Loca (1993) through the lens of José Esteban Muñoz's The Sense of Being Brown (The Brown Commons, and the Transmission of Brownness). Muñoz is perhaps more known for his groundbreaking work, Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Q***r Futurity. He was working on what would become The Sense of Being Brown when he died in 2013, and his work was posthumously published in 2020. Mi Vida Loca was directed by Allison Anders who also made Gas Food Lodging (1992) featuring a very young Fairuza Balk and Jacob Vargas, and Border Radio (1987) featuring LA punk legend John Doe (X).
