Observation as Intentional Action:
How do we slow down what we are hoping for? How does aiming at certain outcomes distract us from more interesting outcomes? How can we cultivate attention to and responses to details outside of our previous experience? What does it mean to engage in a movement context not directed by our very patterned already known habits? We cannot, but we can play at the edges maybe. In this small moment and place we will do some Feldenkrais to warm up our attentional systems and then we will field with gravity and our intentions, in various configurations to observe the already happening things that we can also respond to.

Awakening InterArts: the Art of Intercultural Dialogue PT2: Time with Diane Butler

Diane will guide participatory creative processes on aspects one might consider in developing a practice-based approach to the art of intercultural dialogue–recognizing the variety of people’s worldviews and spatial-temporal-kinesthetic knowledge and cultural values. Rather than stemming from a predetermined method, it is an organic process that grows from the interactions of the people involved, which will evolve differently in each locale depending on its historical and current situation. One approach that Diane has greatly appreciated in Indonesia, which has given good results, is by taking into account the place, time and conditions. With this in mind, she will facilitate some ways to experience pedestrian postures, movement, and gestures as a bridge between daily life and creative expression and one’s ability to be creatively responsive to, and collaborate with, others and the surrounding environment. Time is the focus in this Part 2, including the nuance of the era, favorable moments for dialogue, rhythms of movement, music, or words, and moments of silence for contemplation and receiving the “speaking” of people’s inner feelings.

Let’s deploy joy as emergent strategy and have a dance party while raising money at the same time 🥳🥳

There’ll be space to roll around on the floor, a live DJ set by Cole Lehman, pop up performances, and a silent auction with local gems on offer.

You don’t have to buy a ticket to come! And it helps the hall if you’re able to contribute that way.

We want everyone to be there to celebrate the community, progress of the Accessibility Project, and the building more than we want to sell tickets. Tickets are just one of the ways we’re raising money.

Here’s how we’ll raise money at the FunRaiser:
